    Default WRX buying tips

im wanting to know asap anything i should look for in particular.
old man is buying a wrx today, its meet his requirements so far - turbo, manual, blue but im going to give it a good look over and test drive today just for back up.
he said hes having that one just i want to make sure its good.

so is there any wrx fans out there which can help?

the wrx is 03 i believe post bug eye. ive have checked a wrx fourm and found that the australian model had a diffrenect in the diff between 01 and 02 but i could find much more

also im heading in a hour or 2 max, so any replys would be great

    cheers Sean

not my decision. he has wanted one for a while now and has been tossing up over a r8 clubby and wrx, but he desided stuff it im getting the rexxy
he is very pick normally changing cars every few years but the vs he has had it for 5 plus years. a record for him

i personally would go the r8, cheaper for parts (i assume) and availblity being a holden.
im not really fased if he gets it at least his making the right desision and getting it 1. manuall and 2. the real deal a wrx not a rx

I work for subaru check for the head gaskets for oil/coolant leak as itis common in the newer ones, the 1999 wrx is the best to bye as they are a lot better and built better (most powerfull one), the bug eye are the slowes ones built and look **** as for parts they are not to expensive and there is very little that gos wrong with them

i remember hearing something about cambelts for these things. if it's got a few k's on it make sure it's been changed or get them to change it as part of the deal (if it's a car yard that is)

test drive possibly happening during the week as we got there to late
but its clean as, full service history and books which all services have been done thought the dealer which is a subaru dealer.
    specs
my01 'bugeye' wrx, wc blue, manual 46***km on clock and there asking $27000. it is at a local subaru dealer and from the wrx fourm i have joined they reckon its a bit to expensive for it

That is not to bad from a dealer price wise but you will kick ya self for getting a bug eye as they are the slowest made wrx as for timmig belts they get changed at 100,000 kms and 50,000kms is a major serivce as well all drive line oils full tune (check the book to see if the spark plugs get changed then as they are platnem plugs and some model get done at 50,000 and others get done at 100,000 kms ) also check the water pump for a leak to common problem look up under the car throw the holes in the plastic under tray if ya cant get it on a host good luck with it matie

Wrx's arent a bad car...just dont drive one for more than 30 minutes ata time if you are over 5ft 10. I was getting back spasms when i drove one from sydney

well after posting up in another fourm (a wrx fourm) i have found that they beleive the prices is way to much and for that price a high km sti my02 could be snapped up.
but with a bit of talking we could possbly get it knocked down a bit, just got to try.
cheers for all that info rat very helpful with it all.

minux im 6'2 so that might be a probblem when i drive it, suppose the trip should only take hald the time because its a rexxy.
    haha jkz

and apparntly it is the slowest but by only .2sec to 100km which is sweet f all on the streets if u think about it
