    Question reverse park tips

on me L'z atmo and trying to find parking techniques

what are some tips for reverse parallel park with out doing more than 3 changes.

scenario- 2 cars with the same length as my commodore and i want to reverse park between them.

-how far apart should i be when i pull up to the 1st parked car?

-i begin to reverse, when should i start turning in and how much should i turn the wheels

-at what position should i start turning the other way to straighten up the car?

**it's been a while since i got taught this, i kinda just do it without thinking now, don't bash me for this ****ing up. i'd have someone to watch the points.**

there's this way where you start along side the car which will be infront of you
then reverse until you see the back of it in your rear quarter window (behind rear door)
turn the wheel full lock (left hand down) as you start to reverse
and as you finishing (befor your back left hits the kerb) do the right hand down
straighten up and go forward/back as needed.

thats basicially it, but to perfect it just keep on practicing
i learn't by doing it out the front of my house for like an hour everyday till i had it nailed, just like hill starts kept trying till i had it nailed

good way to do it is to try it in front of a shop or something where you can check the reflection of your car in the windowfront. helps to figure out where your at in relation to them.

I did you wheelie bins out the front and did it in my mums zl fairlane (massive car) and did it until i stop bumping the bins. When it came time for the test it was easy as it was in a excel and needless to say (big not myself here) i ACED the test 100%. Also i remember in the instructors car there was coloured dots on the back passanger window as to where you should start your turn and then when to straighten up. Maybe something to look into. Practise Makes Perfect. Keep at it champ!

Yep.. reflections help if your infront of a shop.

Also to see how far from the gutter you are you can dip your passanger side mirror (after a bit of practicing you wont need to)

I usually pull up exactly next to a car (mirror to mirror) when reverse parking, even maybe a little further up...

Thats about all the help I can offer

    But wait... There's more!!

    But that's not all!!!

Do it infront of a crowd. So you get good under pressure when it comes to your test. Its easy once you master the steps. Although I have forgotten most of them.

Oh wait... are we talking about how to do it on a test?

Errr... Don't dip your mirror then lol...

I only did the test a year ago... My instructor told me how to do it properly, but I just did it my own way so... you kno haha

Ermm...I suppose just do it slow, get used to how the car turns and all that, try and get used to how big the car is etc... Practice makes perfect

And trust me dude, it feels SOOOOOO good when you're on a busy (restraunt packed) road with people everywhere and you get it in a tight spot, first go, right out the front door, and your a perfect distance away from the gutter...

    But wait... There's more!!

Well its been nearly 2 years for me now so i cant remember the fine details. Basically all i remember is pull up beside the car, reverse till your mirror reaches the rear wheel of other car, Full lock turn until your at a 45degree angle, then turn the other way and it should go in perfect without having to go forward or anything.

I may be wrong when to start turning and all that. I cant remember 2 years ago, but im pretty sure. And im 100% sure about the 45degree angle part.
Australia. Love it or leave it
