Default VU SS torn in half @ 150kmh !!

At about 6pm tonight the ute below was travelling down a 50kmh zone @ an eye witness estimate between 150-200.
They have gone through 1 of Kalgoorlie notorious spoon drains and launched into the air , upon bouncing back
to earth something broke and the driver lost control.
They have jumped the curb and launched passenger side on into the tree pictured.
It has literally torn the ute in half , seperating fuel tank , rear firewall , tray , bumpers and tray liner.
In the photo from side on of the cab you can see the fuel tank on the ground between the police.

The owner of the ute is just 18 and hasnt had the car for long , he was not driving his mate was , his age
is unknown , in one of the pics there is a Cougar can on the ground next to the car and witnesses say they
    appeared to be drunk.

Initial reports were the owner was out of the ute yelling at his mate 'look what you have done to my ute' , the
driver was laying on the ground in a bad way apparently.
There has been an uncomfirmed report of a 1 death but will comfirm that tomorrow.

Let this be a reminder oncer again that speeding . alcohol and in experience just do not mix !!!

I disagree, its a good reason why people should have to have psych tests before they are allowed to choose a car to buy. They are bloody lucky no one was killed. Thing is though, and why idiot drivers will keep being **** wits is they get a slap on the wrist and nothing else. Its high time the courts punished these idiots to the full extent of the law.

Lol real fkn Intelligent considering there was no p platers and it was the 18 yr olds "friend" and again they believe alcohol was involved. Also put a toyota camry (4 cylinder) in the same situation at those speeds and their would be a similar result probably worse! I think this should just be an example of why we need tougher licencing (keep the idiots off the road altogether) and much tougher penalties for drink driving.

Guys every 2nd 18 year old in Kal has an SS ute , its just the norm , we have no restrictions on what we can buy , more often than not the parents are buying them for the kids.

Even 18 yr olds here can earn over 60K a year so its not hard to afford 1.

We probably shouldn't assume they were drunk until it's proven. They could have been using drugs, or maybe the passenger was drunk and getting his mate to drive him home. The speeding part is obvious but we shouldn't jump to conclusions on anything else until it's proven.

Once again, I have NEVER understood why there is no restriction on cars when you start out like there is on bikes...

Come to that, I'd be happy if they made getting a car licence AT LEAST as hard as it is to get a motorbike licence, with as much attention to detail with emergency stops and high speed running.
So what if it makes it much harder and more expensive to get a licence...you might live a little longer...make it hard, damn hard, a long drawn out process involving night driving, highway driving, emergency stops, maybe heavy traffic driving, high speed lane changing and avoidance of obstacles.

But if anyone can make a good case as to why a 17 or 18 year old should be allowed to own a 300kw SS Commodore, I'd like to hear it. Oh, and "it's a free country" isn't a reason...not when it might be me and my family coming the other direction when some wanker with the driving skills of a garden slug launches his overpowered rocket at us after losing control.

The problem is, as I have said before, that even a brand new standard V6 Commodore could outrun a Porsche from the late seventies and early eighties when I started driving. Get into a new 6-liter SS, and you are behind the wheel of something which is superior to Bathurst racers of 20 years ago.

Something will be done by the authoritis if people don't start to show some self-control, and I predict it won't take long for laws to start coming in harder.

I agree with harder licencing, but in regards to young people not being able to own nice cars I reverse the question why not? because some idiot kills himself we should punish everyone else? So because of d**head who crashed his ferrari should we now ban ALL drivers from driving Italian sports cars? Also you cannot compare directly old and new "powerfull" cars! Il explain: A 2002 Vu SS has much more power than a V8 wb statesman but also has abs cruise control airbags powersteering more advance traction control better suspension setup rev limiters etc etc.

KEEP THE D**KHEADS OFF THE ROAD, If you put a person behind the wheel that has no driving skills It doesnt matter if its a twin turbo ls1 Vx ss or a Toyota Camry something bad will happen.

BTW ive got my full unrestricted licence so im not really bias

NO ****! that is exactly the same thing i was gonna say! You have to pass an IQ test to drive a vehicle that powerful!

I recon that there should be like an application P platers can lodge to drive a high power car and they have to undergo a seperate test and evalution if they are fit to take the RESPONSIBILITY for being in control of a high power car.

But for drink driving..... no mercy! straight in a slammer! Im sure if they have to cuddle with some 7 foot jail veteran for a couple years they will think twice about drinking again let alone drink driving!

1 Its called a job. People that work out there could probably pay cash for something like a VU SS.

2 He's 18, its nothing to do with his parents anymore.

3 What if your mate was driving, then suddenly started speeding? like he's just gonna pull over and give you back the keys when you say so

I bought my first V8 when i turned 18, and i learnt to drive it. Hence why its still as shiney and straight now as the day i bought it.
As others have said, why should everyone get punished for one morons stupid attitude.

Funny so many people say its a good reason why P platers shouldent have high powered cars. I don't disagree, but my old 1983 SAAB 900 could easily go 170kmh with its 4 cylinder N/A engine. So you can kill yourself in anything if your stupid enough.
