Go for woolies coles myer is in a bad state atm (selling branches to woolies apparantly). With coles I know you have to apply online (my bro in law tryed to get a job wit em) but not sure 4 woolies.
go with woolies and i have only got praise for them in the way they treat there staff whereas i know people that work for coles and are treated a little less than human,
as for employment it just on the net for you or you could go the store mannager and give the friendly hello im keen
btw i do night shift and produce there and its a good job to be in, try to stay out of groceries as it is the pits but thats up to you
Thanks guys, I've got a few debts I want to clear and this will make things a little bit easier. Paying heaps of tax should make my tax return a bit better as well.

Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
God must love stupid people, He made so many.
Yeah but if pay max rate for tax on the second job when they add the two together I will get some of that money back. If I claim tax free threshold on both I'll be screwed

your tax rate doesnt suffer as much as you would think, they combine the 2 incomes and do a set rate for you, it works out in the end of the day.
as for night fill, i do work for woolies, im one of their maintance sparky's in qld. and as for them treating their staff right that they do, but they work you hard. it's alway's rush rush rush rush. hardly see people slowing down or taking their time.
the money isnt that bad either for nightshift in qld for the night fill guy's. depending on hour's you work ofcourse. but most people dont seem to comlpain.
go to http://www.wowcareers.com.au/wowcare...olworths/home/ and apply that way. they are alway's looking for people on the nightfill side of things.
cheers
garth
p.s. coles myer is no more, it's now coles, and myer a seperate. coles are selling up with a 20 billion price tag. and th ey arnt selling to woolies, the accc wont alow that. but woolies are looking at getting the wearhouse, office works and the coles liquor chain.
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii

Ive ran a night fill team at coles and it can be hard work,Just do 4hr shifts and you dont wear yourself out.I havnt been in the industry for a while now so i dont know about the application procedure but it used to be done instore and not over the net but i think its changed now.
Coles are changing the Bilo stores over to Coles and not selling to Woolies.
yeah anything that is part of the woolworths brand or colesmyer(if its still coles myer?) you have to apply over the internet.... all the little ones like IGA, Foodworks etc are all apply instore.... im pretty sure thats how it goesgoodluck mate

i work for nightfill @ woolies atm , i hate my store atm through since they tring to get rid of nightfill. its a good good but u can easily get sick of it. hrs i work hr, 8hrs, 10hrs and 6hrs mainly
i did nightfill at Big W once
and the nightfill managers treat all staff like ****
20 year old egomaniacs
advice i recieved from my accountant once - claim the threshold on your big job, don't claim it on the small one.
the tax department charges you tax based on the assumption that you earn that amount every week of the year (more or less). Sales people will know what im talking about when they see a massive amount of income tax taken out of their monthly commission. The tax department assumes they earn that amount every week, whereas its a random number once a month.
At the end of the financial year, the ATO looks at how much tax you paid, vs. how much you should've paid (based on what threshold you fall into) and then will refund you accordingly if you paid too much.
basically if for 6mths you have 1 job paying you $30,000; and then in the 2nd half of the fin.year you take on a second job, giving you another $15,000per year for a total of $45,000pa; the tax department when charging tax for the 2nd half of the year will assume you earn $45,000 for every week of the year, not just for the last 6mths of the year. So, after 1st July, you send in your tax return saying this is how much i actually earned (in this example it would be $37,500) then the ATO will refund you what they owe you.
If you have deductions, that takes away from your income also, therefore less tax (eg. for me i can claim laptop purchases, uni expenses, so if i earned $100,000 (lol i wish) and then claim $10,000 in deductions, my income is only $90,000)
And that was Tax 101. Thats about everything i know, i don't know anything complicated lol.
Good luck with your job mate, i know people who work at woolies and they reckon woolies treat you well.

Yeh I was doing year 12 at the time and I told them I probably couldnt do extra shifts on top of what you give me a week and they said they understood that. Whenever they called me up wanted me to come in I said I couldnt make it and they started to dislike me and therefore treat me like crap. Also they made me do Sunday shifts building up ends for the specials and they gave me way to much work to complete in one day and always had a go at me when I failed to do it all.
I cant really say the revenge I got on them over the internet. Sorry.
Thanks mr slim. I'm planning on paying 50c in the dollar or whatever the maximum is for the second smaller job and hopefully get 20c in the dollar back once it's been reassessed.

Dam Thats really Bad, when your doing year 12 and they want you to do all their crap, i can't believe that, that sound like my store atm, to be honest sorry to hear about it, i will be leaving nightfill once my current car is paid off and so out of their, i so can't for that day to come.
I did nightfill at woolies for a year or so, pay was awesome, work was great. Met alot of good mates. They are very good with leadership, you show initiative and your heading towards manager roles in no time at all. I had a few 2IC shifts, I loved the hours.
I was working 2 jobs, 8-4:30 everyday fulltime. And then anywhere between 6:30-2:30 on weeknights and 4:30-5 weekends. I was raking it in. But tired as hell.
Only negative is the car being parked outside all night is a bad bad move, get a good alarm and be careful! I lost a headunit.
My brother gets about 500 bucks after tax a week for doing 24 hours on the weekends doing night fill and that includes breaks. Not bad.
24 hours of night fill in a weekend? Stuff that.
hey man i work 30 hours in 3 nights work fri sat and sun night........ wouldnt change it 4 the world. and the pay is very good. and woolies people are great to work for. go for it !!!!!
