Hi,
I am wondering if there is any adhesives out there stronger than Araldite? I am looking to join two pieces of wood together and need something stronger than Araldite two part epoxy. It worked for a month but eventually broke apart.
Anyone know of anything? Brand names and suppliers would be good. I would guess I need something semi flexible and maybe have a melting point above 60 degrees. I only need about 20-30 mls.
Thanks![]()
2 bits of wood? wats the job 4 will help give me an idea of wat ya need then?
Edit: wat sort of wood is it 2?

It's cheap hard wood for my park bench. Should I just get some new wood and shape it to suit? It's only two pieces about 5 inches by 1 inch by 2/3 inch wood pieces.
Maybe someone could please tell me the strongest general purpose wood I could buy? I only need off cuts. Maybe red gum?
liquid nails will do the job give ya a tip tho talk in mm u dont wanna go 2 a hardwear store talkin in inches theses day u'll just get laughed at
need a lil more info on wat ur doin tho is it 4 the seats itself or the back rest? more support?
if its 4 outdoor purposes u cant really go past jarrah weathers good outside

Well if people don't know their inches from their millimetres then it's not my fault
Yeah maybe I will look at jarrah. I will need to see what off cuts I can find. It's a cheap 3 seat park bench from Kmart and I want to repair and improve the seating part and make it stronger.
I thinkk loctite do something craig but i can't be sure.
You need the right glue not 'strong glue' epoxy is no good as it wont soak in. Plain old PVA (good quality) provided that the ends are clean and you clamp the wood should actuall form a bond strong than the wood (ie it will break somewhere other than the join)
Mike
yeah most ppl dont thats y they look at u funny n just laugh coz they dont know how 2 work it out lol as just mentioned PVA would b good but if u dont seal the wood and its outside its gonna just break over time.
is there ne chance u can glue and screw it off with out makin ur bench look ****? otherwise u can get some screw caps usually things from kmart use them neways so wont look outer place lol

I have an idea now that might not be too bad. I might countersink the wood and use bolts instead I think. Then it will be very strong.
i reckon, you ought' to make a whole new park bench from logs off a gum tree.
Loctite 406. That stuff burns holes in s**t.
what has already been said about good quality pva and clean and straight edges is correct.
if you are looking for replacement piece of timber (note: it is TIMBER, it only becomes wood when you burn it) try a local timber yard for some "dark oak", its not actually dark oak, but thats what its named. any hardwood is also good..
just ask for some offcuts![]()
Cheers people.![]()
