anyone know where i can pick up a reco'd trans that comes with a warranty for a Vr. code 4hdd. i need one a.s.a.p. i have 600 on me now. neone know of any places in brisbane area that usually have em?

you wont be able to get any rebuild gearbox for that price. You'd be looking at the wreckers. Check some posts by Sircruisealot he recommended a wreckers a while ago that offers a warranty. Otherwise you can order a rebuilt gearbox for 1400. Every other quote i've had is 2k. 1400 is for a decent gearbox like what sircruise bought less a few extras he got.

lol have been talking to him. but the person who is putting up most of the cash doesnt want to do that. found sircruises post tho. gonna give them a call

the problem with wrecker warranties is either they keep the installation money (many will offer to do that) even if the box breaks down, or you do it yourself and have to uninstall/reinstall the new one when it breaks.

there's no real risk for them in selling you a dud transmission, but you will cop a fair bit of expense/heartache in changing it over (assuming they honour the warranty).

i've heard bad stories about reco boxes as well. they're such a complex piece of kit its easy to get it wrong when rebuilding them.
