Anyone else got the PS3 yet? What you think of it?

Ive had ps3 since 9am the day it come out, and im f**king wraped with it!

Wireless internet, motion sensitive SIXAXIS controllers, HDD, killer graphics, kick ass games, high Def, Online Playstation Store, Blu-ray... List goes on.

It also looks damn hot!

Still waiting for a few of my mates to get one so I can whoop their ass online!

i was looking to get one but i couldnt find a damn store in town that had a display model so i could see wat it could do in person......

but i think id wait at least 6 months now when it drops in price and they have some more games on it

I'm going to hold out. I've a psp ps2 and a chipped xbox. And with the new elite xbox coming out I hope the price will drop. Can't afford it at the moment and I'm patient.

Did you download the free GT game? Is it sweet?

Nah they ditched it so it could have tilt sensors.

Hmm, don't think I'll be getting one... Brought a PS2 for chrissy about 2 years ago, played it for a week and it has sat under the tele gathering dust since!! lol

My mate bought one, played it all day the first day then the next day it wouldnt turn on. Call them and they said it could be the power cable and it seems to be a commen thing>??? WTF for a $1000 gaming machine?? He borrowed my cable for my PS2 and now it works. WTF!!

Looked at one when my brother in law got one because of the blue ray drive and cant say that I'm that impressed. I rather the X360 at the moment as a games console and am undecided weather I want Blue Ray or HD DVD.

From what I can see the pro's are:
Blue ray drive (a blue ray players are around $1500 on there own at the moment)
Free online and Sony’s version of Second life
Wireless, Motion sensitive and rechargeable controllers, standard

With the con's being:
Price compared to Wii and X360
Limited games at the moment and Aussie PS3's only have poxy limited emulation of PS2 games currently, unlike overseas models
Rumble missing from controllers (personal preference)
Tight ass low def RCA cable, didn't even try with a basic component cable or shipping with a HDMI cable. You would think they would include a high def cable in a pack at least so you can see the high def they’ve been raving about
and again Price, $1000 is still a lot of green.

It will be quite a while, if at all, before I stick my hand in my pocket to take one home. Then again I’ll have no complaints if I get one given to me.

Why pay 1k for first gen when you can get a later generation model with support for both types of disc and it will play burnt.

well im not getting one, i got a 360 and i doubt the ps3 will be worlds infront of it, also im no nerd so i can't even tell which graphics are better ( to me the 360 and the ps3 are exactly the same) the fact sony made it is enough for a NO...don't worry microsoft isn't much better but in my experience it's better then sony.

Just the steep price is putting me off from buying one.

Anyway my PC is better, thanks to the geforce 8800gts and intel core 2 duo, both over-clocked and I run my games to max detail.

So I don't see the need to get PS3 for the time being anyway. I just stick with the pc.

Back in the UK the first 100 who bought theirs on Oxford Street (London) got a 2500 POUND (thats like 6500 bucks) HD TV for FREE to go with it, as Sony wanted good publicity for the launch. Not content with that, they were then concerned that people might get beaten up and robbed on the way home, so all of them got a free cab ride home too. Lucky beggars

E B Games has a thing where you give them your PS2 and 20 games and you can buy a ps 3 for $699. Still sounds like a rip.

Sonys version of Second Life is call HOME.

Bassically, Home is a 3D avatar-based environment simular to Second Life but very scaled back. It's supposed to be free to users of the PS 3 network, but you have to download it although its also supposed to be free. I think a beta lunch is in April and will launch publicly in the 3rd quater of this year. It will have a main public area known as the "Central Lobby," and you can use text, audio or video chatting as some of the features. It's said that you can watch high-def videos in Home on the PS3 network.

Anyways I rekon its sh!t hot! Got the GT HD download... Very nice! Also I have a HD tv with the HDMI cable so it looks sweet as! $50 for the damn cable though... what a joke.

Actually they did kinda get sued as it uses another companies technology and they breached licensing somewhere along the line, so the early PS3's don't have vibration, but it seems they'll have sorted out licensing in a month or two and once they resolve the tilt sensor/rumble pad but (they interfere with each other) they'll release controllers with the rumble

give it time the PS3 has eight processors so I'm expecting a really sweet half life 3. The next GTA and GT's will be unreal!

To see the full potential of the graphics, you need a hdmi tv and use the hdmi cable (and sony havnt released 1 yet) so you have to use an aftermarket 1.

I have even broached the subject of getting a PS3. With such an expensive price-tag, I strongly suspect that my wife would go temporarily insane and put her foot up my a**. Plus, if I buy a PS3, I would have to put armed guards around it. Because if I come home and catch my 6 year old playing with it, I may join my wife, and lose my mind. Heck, it would probably be better for her if I caught her with my car on the M5 playing chicken with Howard's motorcade.
