    Default No-Doz Sucks!!

    Hey,

I'm up doing this assignment for uni and I've taken No-Doz, drunk 2 V's, 2 Red Bulls and drunk about 3 glasses of Berocca and I'm still dead tired.

Does anybody know of anything that actually works?

Haha dude... those freakin assignments I tell ya what.. I gotta stop leaving them till the last minute...

Nothing works on me either, I can drink 5 cups of coffee n it wont do anything... Sleep is pretty much the only thing.. but if you got a deadline...

If it makes you feel any better, last friday I had an assignment due at 5pm... I found out about it at 1pm only by chance...

I ended up finishing it in half an hour and it was worth 20% lol... soo yeah, compared to that you still got plenty time ey

Edit: I reckon, take a short break, get up n leave the computer for 5 - 10 minutes it usually helps

    But wait... There's more!!

    But that's not all!!!

    Default Sleep deprivation

Because of our anatomical differences, not all drugs work for everyone in the same manner. In fact, even if you keep throwing drugs which aggravate your adrenalin to thwart sleep, your body will eventualy succumb, one way or another. In other words you will eventully crash either to sleep or otherwise. It is like squeezing a balloon. Either the air will redistribute itself to another side of the ballon and give the baloon a funny shape, or if you keep constricting it, it will eventualy burst. The air has to go somewhere.

I totally understand it is necessary because of circumstantial demands, but working under these conditions, especially for academic requirements is not only counter productive, it is downright dangerous. Adrenalin was designed for defensive purposes in predators and preys - the fight or flight thing. But when this happens, your body shuts down its defensive mechanism. This is called stress. Stress inhibits growth, body defenses, and other normal body functions. It also makes you suseptible to diseases. Stress is good, but only for short bursts. My advise, do your studying just after your lectures. The lecture is fresh in your mind, and you reinforce it by doing reviews. It also stays with you longer. When you have to study long after the lecture, you have to basically relearn and it takes longer. Just an advise for future consideration.

lol... maybe start your assignment earlier?

Taking no-doz isn't going to help your marks.... I know - I'm in my 7th year of studying part time and working full time as well has helping run our own business.

Actually, throwing up is a good thing. The body sometimes is intelligent enough to realize that it has ingested something bad and attempts to expel it when throwing up. On the other hand, you have other bodies that actually try to ingest bad things, and the consequences can be costly.

I used to have four bottles of v a day at one stage. Luckily i realised this was a terrible idea cause it stuffs with your body.

My advice is eat really healthy. In the US students use ADD medication but I highly advise agaist this unless you want to start tripping.

Side effects listed on askmen.com for caffine

    side effects

Other side effects from excessive caffeine consumption are diarrhea, copious urination, while some people can even experience facial flushing. It's hard to say how much caffeine is needed to trigger these side effects because everybody's body will react differently.

Occasional drinkers might experience the side effects after one cup whereas usual drinkers might get jumpy when drinking one more than usual.

Caffeine creates a dependency, and its main problem is caffeine withdrawal. This means that if someone who usually drinks between one and three cups of coffee a day suddenly stops drinking it, that person could develop headaches.

Other major drawbacks of quitting the brew are anxiety, light depression and fatigue. Obviously these might seem like very severe side effects but only a minority of coffee drinkers will experience them.

    Side effects of Taurine

Side Effects: Stop taking your medicine right away and talk to your doctor if you have any of the following side effects. Your medicine may be causing these symptoms which may mean you are allergic to it.

    * Breathing problems or tightness in your throat or chest
    * Chest pain
    * Skin hives, rash, or itchy or swollen skin

Effects of ADD medication are the same as meth.

there are many type of medication for people with ADD, some share the properties of 'speed' and some will put you to sleep as a dribbling mess.
I strongly doubt you'll 'trip' from ADD meds.

After an extended period of time awake you will definately experience halucinations. People who take rhitalin etc to stay awake to cram or do assignments will be kept awake and will try to extend their persiod of being awake. I'll find you a case study on people who stay awake more than two days if you want?

    nana naps FTW

I am up for work at 4.30am and am often awake to 11pm, but I'm one of those people who requires 8 solid hours of sleep to function properly. I have found that a 20 minute snooze in the afternoon is equally effective though.

If you find yourself too tired to work properly, try sleeping for 20 minutes. When you're particularly tired, a 20 minute snooze will fix you up for the next 4 or 5 hours. Works wonders

ill add to shags idea there... that 20 mins is great. ive been known to steal 20 here or there to nap. Longer than 20 mins and you hit the deeper sleep and it makes you feel like crap when you come out of it.

As a matter of fact, Industrial psychologists are now recommending that US companies have a nap period into the work schedule. It was found, in research, after a 20 minute power nap, workers were refreshed, and their mind were better able to handle complex problems. It is like hitting the reset button in the brain. Clearer thinking workers, more quality productivity and higher qualitative output.

Ummm...this may sound a little prejudicial, but seeing I am black, I can get away with it , but I don't think the Mexicans take 20-minute power naps. Instead they take about 3 hours off By the time they come back to work, they have to kick start their brain. By the time their brain get into work mode, it is time to go home

cheers guys some valid points were definitely made.

i should point out that this is only the second time that i have pulled an all nighter for an assignment (other time was back in school). i the reason why it happened this time was because i had been working way to much and not paying enough attention to my studies.

with the easter break coming up, it will give me an opportunity to catch up and prioritize.

have a good easter everyone and stay safe, on the roads and with whatever you may be doing over the break.
