Hey just saw the news today.... well bad news, currently 12 deaths!
Not a very good start and there was some pretty bad accidents they showed on T.V.
So guys, please drive SAFELY and happy Easter to you all.
Attaboy.
Great to see there is the same typical idiots almost killing themselves at easter, 2 young guys fighting for their life after drag racing and losing control.
As a police rep said on the news, is it just easter or are people normally this stupid.

Wasnt it only 1 death last night??
Or maybe that was just in vic..
Must have been a bad day on the roads today
Yeah.. drive safe, and just keep your eye out... People seem to get tooo relaxed around long weekends
And minux.... I think its option 2
But wait... There's more!!
But that's not all!!!

Damn. Good to see those 60 to 50km/h speed limit changes are working.
with the risk of being abused&flamed here i think all the easter (and other holiday) death toll stuff it a crock of ****.
people crash everyday, not just during holidays, but because the media swoops in gets the cameras rolling at all the crash scenes and goes on about how many people have died so far and even keep tallie of the deaths, updating daily on the 6pm news, suddenly we're supposedly vulnerable to instant death if we drive during a holiday period.
what about the rest of the year? how is that any different? and as for the cops, who are always out in force during these periods (just now ive driven home from work and seen three patrol cars) why cant this be done all the time?
its like saying, we're not around so break the law if you want during the rest of the year, but during the holidays we'll be there to catch you - rediculous.

I see your point sircruisealotVS,
But in Easter more people are out on the road either going for a trip/ having a holiday whatever. So there is more chance for the death toll to rise even higher.
But I also agree with you about the media focusing too much on Easter toll.
Drive safe.
Attaboy.
I do agree, the media does hype things up a bit. For instance I think most of the fatals we've seen so far would have happened any other time of the year. The one at Hampton Park could have happened at any other time as it wasn't people on their way to a holiday destination, just a couple of kids out dragging.
However there is the likelyhood that collision will occur, that's why most happen during afternoon/morning peak during the working week. I don't go to many prangs that happen during the middle of the day. So a holiday weekend like easter is like having peak hour all weekend.
More cars on the road, combined with the fact that they're on their way to holiday desinations, they're travelling long distances probably on unfamiliar roads. They've got the kids in the back hassling them, they just want to get where they're going so they'll let the speedo creep just a little higher now and then.
Then you've got your other ones who are travelling locally to and from home but problem is they're out drinking because they've got a four day weekend and they're putting their feet up.
Who cares if the media hype it up, good on them, anything to create a bit more awareness. The more publicity road carnage gets the better. I am in the middle of a 'discussion' on the SC forum about some idiot complaining about the new point to point speed cameras. These things are advertised, the locations are broadcast, in WA on long weekends they do double demerits, does this deter the dikheads? No. I don't think there will ever be a solution, but at least we are made aware that our decisions have consequences.
Agreed ^^^^^^^ like said i dont think in our life time there will never be a solution. the world does grow everyday an we get more an more d**k heads on the rd thats how the life works im sorry too say lol.
1 thing tho i am pretty sure there is heaps of awareness out there but noone seems to take notice? im for one dont do anything silly mind u i may have bak when i was younger but these days it is not worth it at all.....
Always In Construction Mode!!!!!![]()
awareness of what....hmmmm.
they shouldnt just go all crazy on the holidays and say "drive carefully, its easter". you should ****ing be carefull all the time, thats my entire point.
they (they, being the media) love a good sob story, and holiday crashes seem to get a headline every night during the holiday periods. then ofcourse they always have the tallie board they'll bring up - "X" amount dead in nsw, so-and-so dead in qld.etc...
its stupid, its like no one cares about road safety and the law untill its the holiday period and then they all jump up and down and start crapping on about it. and the only reason they do it is for ratings, thats the worst part, its really quite sickening.
people should be driving safely ALL the time, wearing a seat belt ALL the time, never drink driving and never driving huge distances without sleep/rest.
not just when a holiday comes around the this special "holiday blitz" starts up.

Thats the media though, it's their job to report and sensationalise. It doesn't hurt to remind people during the holidays. I agree 100%, road safety is a 365 issue and the media shouldn't just concentrate on the holidays, but there are a lot more cars on the road at these times so emphasize it all the more I say. If reporting another road death makes one more person take extra care then ti was worth reporting.
HAHA, i hate all idiots who complain about any camera, they are a voluntary fine, if you break the law it will cost you, i find it hard to understand how people can complain about it. If someone is raped/murdered etc the community expects the full force of the law because the law was broken, but the double standard comes in when they are int he most lethal weapon in the country.

i think awareness is a good thing. I'm traveling up to Shepparton this weekend and whilst I'd usually drive very safely i know I'll be just that fraction more vigilant even though i know those roads and conditions won't be any worse than usual.
The most problems i see over easter and summer are interstate drivers getting lost around here (being one end of the great ocean road and holiday towns).
they will be reading maps and signs while they drive and forget to indicate or stick the breaks on too hard when they spot their turn. They are the ones causing the low speed stacks around here.
Did SA start their holidays a week earlier than ours? They were out in full force last week causing havoc around here!
yes you are 100% right, BUT people become complacent. Just like if you walk into a room with a bad smell, it stinks at first but give it 10 minutes and you wont even know its there any more. Every now and then someone's gotta come in and let one rip that could floor a rhino just to remind you that it does in fact, stink!![]()
