    Default The new system

hello members, been a little while since i have had to make a offical type of thread. so here it goes.

The team at jc have decided to bring in a new system, it's called the infraction system. This is designed to cut out the leg work done by the team here in making sure this place stays friendly.
A basic standard has been set to govern the team give them a guide line so to speak, this is all based on the current rules of engagement which can be found at the very top of each sub forum.

this system is in it's infancy stage, and i do expect there to be some bad judgements made by everyone, as we go thew and iron out the bugs.

feed back is by far the best way we can acheive a perfect system. so if you receive a infraction or a warning, please feel free to pm me directly if you think it's unfair, or sucks, but make sure you got some proof backing you up.

this system will come into affect as of the 12 of april, and hopefully will run smooth.

do P platers get less infractions before they get given the boot over non p-platers?

haha, on a serious note though, it sounds good.

will we be PM'd if we get an infraction..? or will it be unknown to us?

im not sure at this stage, we are unsure weather the auto warning for the infraction sends a pm. i know you sometimes have to actualy issue a pm, trying to get rid of that part somehow

A PM definitely needs to be sent, I think its up to the moderator or Administrator to send it out aswell.

From what I hear above it sounds like perhaps a permanent ban can only come from an agreement between mods? That would keep the one mod grudge factor away.

Not correct at all, a permanent ban will automatically come after enough infraction points are earnt. You get certain amount of infraction points, you then go onto modded posts, after this if yous crew up again its a temp ban automatically, after this perm ban.

    So for example:

    You get
    2 points for racist comments,
2 points for abusing a mod/member in pm or on forum,
2 points for post whoring(one thing we will be cracking down on)
You now have 6 points, the system will put you onto moderated posts and you will be taken off when we see fit.
You were a tool again and abused yet another mod/member, another infraction and you have just earnt a temp ban for 3 days.
3 days are up back to normal,
You start a flame war, receive another infraction you are now no longer able to post as you are perm banned.

If after all the warnings you get sometimes 5 or 6, and you do not learn, then you deserved to be banned.

umm just another thing, i think there has to be clear communication between mods too, cos if someone gets an infraction from a mod, and a different mod gives them an infraction for the same incident without knowing of the other infraction given it could cause havoc.

Infractions are recorded in each users profile and are visible by all mods/admins. Also if an infraction is issued against a post an icon shows up so we can tell if it has been acted on previously.

Increasing your post count through pointless posts, ie: in the my ride section posting 'nice car' to like 20 threads.

Its not that automatic. The mod/admin still has to make the decision whether to issue the infraction.

Default A point to the contrary!

I have no problem with encouraging polite interaction, the issue becomes mildly harsh speech get jumbled up in downright deragotary speech. I have a distruct of PC'ism, because it makes people who might actually be racist/rude speak in euphemistic pros. I would rather people be honest with their views. We all have or dark sides. The other side to this, is when negative views are aired, and it is challenged, the holder of the view begins to realize, when exposed to the light of reasoning, their views don't really hold water, and a change of attitude may be a viable option.

I know this is a horrendously grey area for a site Administrator to maintain. However, with all our efforts to make this site user-friendly, I wanted to say smething in defense of the budding a**holes. I got in trouble once for the maxim, "I may not like what you say, but I will defend to the death, your right to say it." That utterance by Voltaire over so many hundreds of years ago, still holds favored place in my psyche. In the yin and yang of our natures, lets be mindful of not wholly excluding the yang as we attempt to encourage the yin. It is, after all, a viable segment of reality in equilibrium. Just some food for thought!

To be respectful, I will asume you are joking about the phonetic spelling. I refuse to imagine anyone can be so much of a protected nitwit as to be unfamiliar with normitave internet/colloquial spelling.
