i started with a 70`s model galant station wagon. 4cyl used to drive flat out everywhere with the p plates flaping in the breeze. Did nothing mechanical to it except regular servicing,it had a good sound system in it. it looked like sh*t but lasted 2 years before it was written off when it got rear ended. The tail gate ended up level with the back seat.

My First car was a 1972 RX2 Coupe fitted with a 13B EP T04 Garrett V Trim Turbo. Custom upholstered interior, silver in color, had simmons polished wheels and was bloody loud. Only ever got pulled over by the police once and that was because i drove it from one side of town to the other with a 3 inch straight exhaust. Brakes were bog stock on a potential 9 second car, suspension was stock Had everything it needed to go fast and nothing to stop it.
I'll find some pics that are packed away one day and up some images, was well before the days of digi cams.

First car was a white "84 VK Commodore. My dad bought it for me for my 18th, and it was stock as a rock apart from the sports steering wheel and 2.5" sports exhaust. And oh yeah the 5 spoke mags.
At the time I was in high school and had basically no money to put towards it, so she stayed as is for quite a while. Then, after many attempts to fix the exhaust leak in the manifold, my dad decided to get extractors fitted to rid the problem once and for all. It sounded great, everyone thought it was a V8... but it really had no go at all. Still, I loved it. It was a bloody tough car, and had power steering so it was an easy car to drive.
What happened to it?
I had 3 accidents, decided it was finally time to let her go.
First accident - I was driving down a main road in the left lane approaching a set of lights when this guy sitting in a side street on the left decided he would pull out in front of me. I wasn't speeding, but had no time to stop... wheels locked up and we hit. Apparently he was expecting me to stop and give way to him, well he thought wrong. Wasn't a problem though, he admitted to being at fault straight away and had no dramas getting my car fixed.
Second accident - I was driving home from work one night down a road that is wide enough to be two lanes, but isn't marked, hence only one lane. I was driving on the far left side of the lane as I always did at that point, as I was approaching a set of lights where the lane is actually divided into two, and very commonly there would be traffic turning right so I avoided having to stop for them by driving by in the left lane. Anyway, I had a few cars driving ahead of me, when out of nowhere one of them decides to slow right down and pull into a driveway on the left very quickly, from the far right side of the lane. Unfortunately my view of him was obstructed by the other traffic and by the time I saw him there it was too late... he had pulled into the driveway leaving the rear end of the car out on the road in front of me. I hit him, and over a year later after many letters and phone calls with insurance companies (including threatening letters from lawyers) I was found to be at fault. Set me back $1600, $800 for the excess and $800 to have my car repaired, which was done within a few weeks of the accident.
Third accident - this is the one that killed it. Basically, I hit a pole. I had gone out quickly to grab some Hungry Jacks for dinner, and had the food sitting on the passenger seat next to me for the drive home. As I approached a T intersection I looked for traffic, saw there wasn't any coming set went ahead to turn left. As I turned the food began to fall so I quickly looked down at it and grabbed it before I lost it all, but when I looked back up at the road I saw a pole right in front of me. I panicked and my feet worked too quickly before I could think about what I had to do, and unfortunately I slammed my foot down on the accelerator instead of the brakes, throwing me forwards even harder into the pole. I had underestimated how sharp the turn was. Needless to say I have learnt my lesson and I never take my eyes off the road any more. It showed me what even the slightest distraction can cause.
After that I decided not to bother with her anymore. It actually still drove home, even though the front right wheel had bent right off the axle, she was a real tough cookie, but it would have cost me too much to repair, and I was looking to upgrade anyway.

My first was a VC SL 3.3L
had some nice options you don't see much on the SL's, power steering and tacho.
what happened to it?
got nicked out the front of my dads place, they took my $20 tape deck ( supercheap styles ) but not my $50 velour seat covers!
its was proably better though, got $1100 back from insurance and it had a massive hole in the boot ( spare tyre poked out ).
