Default How much do you think this is worth?

Just want to know what people think this might be worth? I'm considering buying it and converting my car to manual, just want to know whats the max price it SHOULD be worth...

Well, it's listed as a repairable write-off, but I'd only buy it for parts. Chances are it'd cost you too much to repair.

But, to buy any commodore from auction is a battle. Especially from the Salvage auctions. Everyone wants them, and most of the time your bidding again wreckers. They usually go for more than they are worth.

That one will go for anywhere between $800 and $1,200, maybe even more. But thats the price bracket I've seen them usually go for.

Yeah I'm only going to buy it as a donor car for a manual conversion. I would be happy to pay anything up to $1000 for it. Hopefully there isn't too much interest in it

I can pretty much be sure it'd go for more than 1000 if a wrecker is bidding on it. They will see over $4000 potential in wrecking that car.

The gearbox being the most expensive part, which they'd sell at near on 3000, plus the motor (maybe more if its an ecotec, assuming it is being a 97)

Even if you were to get it for 2000, you'd still make money back selling the motor and your old auto (maybe even put the tans in the wreck, and see how cheap you can get the panels for it.

Yeah. I don't mind paying that because as you say I could get some money back for the motor and my auto, plus selling of some other parts. Hopefully I'l go check it out tomorrow, I think the bidding ends tuesday morning sometime.....

I didn't realise it was manual, and coz it is ,it'll go well over the $1,200 I first suggested. Another hint it to see which lot number it is. The later in the auction it comes up, the better your chances. Most people have either got what they came for, spent their money, or missed out on what they wanted and pissed off home.

I'm pretty sure it's an online auction.....because it's located in leongatha. I tried calling the auction coordinator, but no answer (it is sunday). I'm going to call first thing tomoro and see what the bids are up to *fingers crossed*

depends on the day really....you would be looking any where from $800.00-$2500.00,as it looks an easy repairer

I dont think he did, I have a habit of only half reading the post, and then looking at the link.

I just saw the first question, and then the link to the Auction site ans thought "ooooh...." and off I went. lol

I doubt it'll be that easy of a repairer, if you look at the damage, there is a 90% change the whole front end it twisted. Besides, he wants it for the manual as I just found out. hehe

You'd probably come across my dad's girlfriend there. I swear she just about lives there. Pity that you also have to fight of the Gagebrook, Bridgewater, Brighton bogans as well as the wreckers for the commodores.

It might be an easy repairer for you, but for most other people, 'easy repairer' means just replacing panels. Theres a fair bit of extra work to 'untwist' a front end like that.

LOL...since when has gagebrook been able to afford them kind of vehicles eh? they have a job to buy their own drugs...the only person that really haggles the price up is that damned rodney island from up the north west, god he pushes some commodores to ridiculous prices, and occassionally i have been the sucka that has paid more than what a VN-VP is actually worth because of him

You usually see the Gagebrook ones there with their newborns. And their baby bonus. I know it sounds harsh, but it's bloody true.

And the other one you have to watch is Steve from Steves Autos in Mowbray. Big fat old guy with a balding head and whats left of his hair is white. He paid $500 for a COMPLETELY burnout VN wagon. The only thing good on it was the diff.

yeah he's not so much a worry as that rodney island, that wouldn't of been a 5 speed as well, the one you was talking about? as you probably know 5 speeds are as rare as hens teeth down here,(south)can't see him making much off the diff

i reckon anywhere upto and 2000. anyone WILLING to repair that, is up for alot, and i don't think people would bother. that looks a good 5000+ worth of damage, it'll be a wreckers dream buy... as it's still in good nick by the pics. interior wise and exterior from the windshield back. if you get it, you could sell alot of stuff in it.

you would be surprised at the price of genuine replacement panels very cheap....$5000 grand insurance wise yes, thats why it's written off,if you repair the vehicle yourself, you have yourself a nice cheap repaired late model(well under 10 year old car)car

Nope just a boring old auto. I remember coz I was looking at while we were waiting for the lot numbers we wanted to come up.

Steve Orders is usually only there 1 out of every 4 auctions. But when he is, he tends to clean up. He does a lot of mainland ones as well. The majority of cars in his yard are those with mainland rego.
