Read in the Sunday Times yesterday about a guy in Perth who got done by a multanova doing 105 in a 90 zone. Here's the best bit, he had his 10 month old son on his lap holding the wheel at the time. The photo also shows a woman in the back leaning up against the side of the drivers seat.
Also in another incident a 44 yr old woman died when her motorcycle hit a tree. This was 30 minutes after getting a a learners permit to ride it. No details about that crash yet. I'm not saying she was a d**khead though.
I can fully sympathise with the police about the lack of respect and care road users exhibit.
bad as my dad, he did 180 in a 110 zone ( got done for 160 ) when i was 6, my sister 8 and my brother 4.
he has since toned it down a bit, the copper went off his head at him
funny thing is he did it in a camry and his excuse was the car is so quiet ( it was brand new ) he couldn't hear the engine revving so hard!
We got rep back, yaaay!
44 year old woman is a ******** because she crashes a bike into a tree after getting her learners? That's a bit harsh don't you think.
Instant Idiot? Just add rain!
From my experience, people drive more stupidly in the rain. They speed more, observe less, and are far more reckless. This is from commuting every day from the Central Coast to Sydney, I'm not sure about other places... Although my fiance has the same experience from just driving around in general. Every time it rains she rings me up to tell me about the things she's seen people do![]()
Actually we've had a LOT of rain here latelyonly problem is that 99% of it completely misses our catchments
.
Seriously, we'll get massive puddles on the road, non-stop rain for 48 hours at a time, sky clouded over for 3 weeks, and the catchment might get 2mm if we're lucky...
Ah sorry dude, early morning eyes wondered straight over the top of that.
sounds about right. we were on holidays for two months during winter a few years ago. huge rains so we thought the tanks would be chockas when we got home... turns out a tree branch fell on the main pipe into the rainwater system and snapped it in two! prob 80% of the water ended up on the ground... typical but at least it did rain then!
What i wanna know is who decided to put the catchments where they are!!!
Like, everytime i watch the news "And its a down pour around melbourne today will flash flooding and heavy rain causing problems for drivers... unfortunately its missing our catchments..."
WTF... lol
but yeah, people totally loose their marbles when it starts raining... Or when its sunday....
N heaven forbid it rain on a sunday! Im keepin the car in the driveway when its raining on a sunday! no matter how bad i need toilet paper!
There should be some sort of water catchment connected to the storm water drains. All that surface area of the city would reap a ****load of water. Send it through a treatment plant and the city water needs are met.
I still think they should put solar dishes on the tops of all tall buildings in the cities and stuff, have them all sloping towards the middles of the tops of the roofs and while gathering a small amount of solar energy, when it rains the water drains into a system of pipes which is fed into the nearest catchment!
its easy to continue on with another d head stories
i like the P plater who got clocked doing 160+ on the great western highway last night ... IN AN 80 ZONE.
Should be an instant cut up of the licence AND confiscate the car. If you dont wait to play fair on the road then why should you be on it?
It's actually quite strange. I'll head in the rain on a morning shift in peak hour traffic and not get a single collision. We even have a major freeway in our area that attracts its fair shair of prangs.
Last week there was a day where we had that perfect weather. This must of instilled a bit of over confidence in the motorists - there were nothing but collisions everywhere for most the day.
I think you'll find that most people will have the common sense to take it easy in the rain but you'll get the odd one now and then.
yeah no sh*t last night a group of 8 of us went to a servo on a 3 lane round about it got to raining quite well sety in for the night we spent about 2 hours watching ### wiits loose it then went a bit down the rd into dandsenong and there was what looked like a merc but in the form of a tarago (havent got a clue) into a 40cm thick wooden power pole that is now snapped clear in half with splinters off it everywhere it was a messed up accident and as usual just add the rain
### how hard it is to slow down 10kms in the wet and take it a lil lighter on the go go pedal
