Default look for cars and bikes

some peopple are so stupid, i ride around on my bike alot and today on the way to school i was on the very side of the road on a downhill, going fairly fast, about 50 meters ahed i see a car, then as the other road side clears he turns out infront of me, forcing me to hit the gutter and fall off my bike.
he clearly saw me comiing down the hill. but still wanted to get onto the raod before he lost a chance.
didnt even stop to say sorry.
this has happened more than once. and it hurts sometimes
do drivers respect some bike riders? or jus see them as nothing
ps. i dont ride on the road on BUSY roads, jsut back streets.
it just annoys me coz i am a vehicle but the driver just doesn respect that
    end of rant

Ahhh you should have hit him, then you could have done him for being on the wrong side of the road n not giveing way to other ppl on the road.

i hate bike riders >_< THEY ALL SUCK! no offense but god damn you guys are the absoloute worst, especially on a tight, two way, street, when u have to risk a head on collision with the other side to over take them ... take a bus or something - my 2 cents

Just fort i would add this, you should have got his plate n took it to the cops.

Bout 5yr ago i used to have to ride 10km to get to town, countless times i got run off the road, ended up gettin sick of these 2 car who would always leave me with buggar all room, got there plates, they got a visit from the cops and never had a problem with them again.

Ppl who ride bikes on the road get the same rules as any other person on the road, you can get in big **** if ur in a car n make a bike crash "as there not as big as me soo stuff em"

take his plate let him get that visit.

To be honest, i hate those bike riders that ride their pushies on the main roads. Its just plain annoying.

However if hes pulling out, and youre already on the road, well he is clearly in the wrong. I wouldve just kept going and braced myself to ram into his car. Or pull a ghostie

I sure am, it was worth it, the amount of times i got run off the road was just gettin stupid.

Once you have been a bike rider, you are always carful not to **** with em, coz they will get you, and if they dont sumone will one day.

I dont respect bike riders, they abuse road laws, they pay no registration so therefor should not be allowed to use the road.

minux that was not what i would expect from you.

But what types of bikes are you directing this towards.

Those lycra wearing supa fast road cyclers, who sit 1m in the lane, or just general ppl who ride around.

Im not a fan of those lycra wearing onse, they do take up alot of unessesary room, even tho they have gap off the side of the road they still sit in the lane.
I dont really like them they are rude n dont obay the laws, but general public who has a pushy to ride to work or watever are fine they dont sit on in ya lane.
But those lycra once who have a line up of 30+ bikes and when they pull up at a set of lights they all go to the front and block off the traffic, then are slow off the mark.

Ino im sorta contridicting myself but there is a difference between them.

But i still give them plenty of room n if i cant get past safely i just have to wait til it is, just like overtakin a car, gotta wait til its safe.

Im talking about the idiots who wear the those terrible skin tight clothes who sit in a car lane blocking traffic. The same ones who scratch and dint peoples cars with there pedals and handlebars, the same morons who think they have as much right to use the road as a car. When i was younger we'd always go down the coast for a cruise, we never left without a bag of soggy soy saiced dim sims in case they got in our way

As for mr and mrs smith, providing they dont ride on the road but in designated lanes they are cool

i also dont like the bike riders myself to, i mean those ones calais_cruzin is talkng about, the ones who sit 1 meter in the road.
im NOT one of them, i have a bmx bike and ive been ran over 2wice, smashed into a car 1nce ( massive dint) and been knocked off my bike many a time.
    never been to hospital tho
i dont ride on main roads. i ride on bike paths and back streets.
when i ran into a car he was reversiing out of his drive way and onto the road, didnt see me but i thought he did. then wack, ride into the side of his van. i had a bloody nose n a gash on my forehead n he was a great bloke about it.

im jus tryin to say, i no some bike riders are annoying, but some arnt and we arnt allowed to ride on footpaths ( got ran over)

its just annoying when i get ignored so often

Those ****ers piss me off. Driving to schoolies we had about 10 of them in front of us and they were taking up the whole lane. I overtook them cause they were just ****ting me... And two cars back was a unmarked cop car and he fined me for overtaking on double ****ing lines.

I hate bike riders who go inbetween lanes of heavy traffic when cars are stopped.

I hate bike riders (when in packs) who surround the car so even when you want to do the right thing and give way, YOU CANT!

I hate bike riders who sit on your tail (same with other cars, HATE IT)

Other than that, I treat bikes as if theyre just another car. We both got rules to follow, you stick to yours, I'll stick to mine. I'll do what I can to give way, give them room etc, but when they EXPECT it of me, then why should I

Anyway, seems like you werent doing anything wrong, so I feel for ya, and I think people should really pay more attention to bikes, they come up alot faster than cars do!! Use some common sense people (both drivers and riders! < not aimed at you sabby)

    But wait... There's more!!

i don't hate all bike riders, but some of them are worthy of their bad name. my beef with bike riders is that as minux said they don't pay their way with rego or petrol taxes, and that they're accountable to no-one. aside from being pulled over by the cops, they don't have to worry about licence plates, licencing or speed cameras

ok, lets look at it this way, cars have to have license plates to use the roads, so why don't bikes?
there is no way of reporting a crap bike rider
i've seen a lot of idiots on bikes, not thinking at all. it's also little things like cutting cars off by being slower and not allowing adequate room for cars to pass.

i'll agree there are good bike riders out there, just a severe lack of them...

Yeah ive been stuck behind bikes there quite a lot, and because its bendy theres not exactly a safe spot to overtake so you have to wait it out.

Its just frustrating, the least they could do is pull over to the side and stop to let us pass...

I think given your unfortunate track record with accidents and near misses perhaps you need to be more concerned about looking out for cars rather than counting on them looking out for you. I'm not saying you are in the wrong, there are a lot of terrible drivers around. But you need to take more precautions and not rely on drivers to do the right thing because when it comes down to it car vs bicycle you are going to be roadkill.

Maybe you were going a bit too fast down that hill? If you see someone in a car in a driveway you need to assume that they are going to pull out. If you don't have time to pull up and end up stacking it into a gutter then you must be going too fast. Its a simple thing to do that may save your life, I teach my 7 yr old to watch out for cars in driveways, if some one is in the car she has to stop and not cross the driveway until the car has either driven off or the driver has signalled to her its ok to go.

I don't want to sound like I'm having a go at you because obviously the driver was in the wrong. But when others don't give a crap about your safety you need to take responsibility and look out for yourself.

Don't get me started on those lycra clad cyclists they are a bloody menace. My dad was dropping my younger bro at footy training one night, just driving along normally, not speeding, and a bunch of these tools went flying around him. One of them crashed into dads car and stuffed himself up pretty bad. There were no witnesses except dad and the rider and dad ended up charged over it culpible driving or something like that I cant remember the actual charge as it was a long time ago.

There was a big court case my parents forked out a small fortune in legal costs. In the end it was proven he hit my dad not vice versa. He was trying to sue claimed he suffered mentally afterwards and was basically stupid, the insurance company squashed him on this claim after obtaining all his old school reports which proved that he was stupid prior to the accident lol. So in the end the cyclist got nothing.

I hate those spandex wearing ill equipped (meaning god given if you know wat i mean) mofos!!! They always ride along the great western highway and put themselves in danger az well as everyone else!

On the other foot ive been put into hospital when I was a kid I was riding along the backroads to my mates house when a car came onto the footpath (yes it is illegal to ride on the footpath but I could hear the car coming so I moved over) and the car rammed into me, my handle bars and pedals were bent and I had pretty bad bruises and lacerations to the entire right side of my body, lucky they didnt bloody kill me. Never caught the plates (kinda unconsious on the ground :P ) Yes I was wearing a helmet so pretty damn lucky
