i just got myself a vt and called the insurance and i said i wanted full insurance - they said its like 2000 for full comprehensive insurance...this is at just cars aswell
this car is completely stock!....i havent even done anything to it YET
is this fkn stupid or is this usual??? should i just go for 3rd party fire and theft
Hey Mate, when i was younger i had the same troubles ..... yadda yadda yadda
check out these guys - http://www.budgetdirect.com.au/
they insure modded and stock cars - and you have the choice of repairer.
Awesome low premiums compared to others, they have won quite a few money awards for there service etc etc.
I have been with them for the last 6 years with no dramas at all.
go run through there online quoting system and let me know hoe you go.
ill think youll be suprised.
cheers
How old are you?
Have you had any previous driving convictions?
Music Isn't Played Backwards, So Why 'VE' ?
im 18....no driving convictions what-so-ever
and thanks FOTO_WAGON ill check them out
i was shocked....and im planning on adding mods on it too, this shattered them haha
Unfortunately young drivers get slugged a fortune. You can shop around but it won't help you much. We've been looking at the cost of insurance for our 18 year old daughter and couldn't believe the prices.
MY RIDE
I thought I was wrong once but I was mistaken.
I had a vt 99 series 2 calais insured with budget direct...
first car, stock as a rock, 19yo male only driver, no licence suspensions, no claims
for full comp
$2,300 for the first year... They were the cheapest though
You never have to fill out any forms with them which is good, but you dont get a choice of repairer... which is bad
my car is getting fixed at the moment, budget direct themselves, excellent, they keep in touch, theyre really good like that...
the assessors and the people they go to for repairs, i dont like so much...
Budget direct and just car are the best prices i could find... just car is only a couple hundred more, still worth considering.
But wait... There's more!!
But that's not all!!!

VT Calais II... The Italian Stallion

How to be a good Australian Citizen: Drive a Camry, Become another number in the system, Dob in all other numbers for un-numberlike behavior (no matter how slight), Base all your opinions solely on the information provided by T.T. and A.C.A., Believe everything our gracious Government Tells you to.
duno how the age will work out but most ppl i know are with aami atm, they are good $$$, and u can increase your excess and if u do that it lowers your yealery prieum. worth a shot, just do the online quote 1st.
Im probly wrong so dont listen to me
Search for thread titles mentioning insurance, this topic gets done at least once a month......
Put the insurance on your elders/parents name and list you as a secondary driver that way you get comprehensive and pay way cheaper. But when you have an accident that is your fault, then you will have to pay big $$ in excess fees. So as long as you are a careful driver you shouldn't have a problem.
Not a good idea and entirely at your own risk. If you do have an accident and you are listed as a smaller % driver in order to get the insurance cheaper and they choose to investigate, you could risk having the claim thrown out and the policy cancelled if they find you have actually been the main driver and not your parents.
lol... at just cars they wanted 2200 a year full comp. for mine but i stayed with CGU who insured my previous car and its only 1500 a year full comp. I'm 18 and have only had my licence since Jan. '06.
Just Cars is stupid because i got a quote for a VX GTS with the usual mods done: 20's, dumped, zorst, tint, stereo, custom interior & a bit of engine work done, and they wanted 3300 a year full comp.![]()
yeah i nearly **** myself when i heard the guy say 2000
CGU dont seem to like modifications though lol
My insurance came up so I called around to get others to compare
current with AAMI $500 / year full comp
Budget direct $600
Just cars $630
NRMA $1200
<davy> remember when braveheart came out and everyone said you can't have mel gibson playing a scottish guy cuz it wont be realistic?
<davy> well look at him now
<davy> an alcoholic racist
My X girl friend smashed her car. It was under her dads name so she could get cheap insurance. She totaled her car and they paid her out about $7000 with no questions asked. By the way she had pink seat covers, pink windscreen wipers, pink everything. Love heart exhaust tip. flower stickers all over her car. and it was meant to be her dads car haha. But they still paid her with no questions asked
Edit: she was with ammi
Australia. Love it or leave it
I insured my VT when I was 19. Back then it was bone stock except for sound system and 19" wheels.
Got comprehensive from AAMI for about $1,150. That was with one low-cost at-fault on my record, and one traffic offense. They gave me 40% NCD from memory. Insured value was $12,000.
Don't even think about Just Car unless you actually need it because of serious mods. Go AAMI if you want budget, go NRMA if you want service (they actually let you do some mods too, which is why I'm with them now. AAMI will only let you have 1 if you're under 25).
I'm now 21, same car but with a body kit, $3k of suspension mods, $3k of sound system, and $1.5k of exhaust work is costing me $1,800 with NRMA for comprehensive. Insured value is $18,000.
It worth calling up and getting a proper quote by the way, the online ones don't ask you all the questions they need to give you a real one. Online, NRMA quoted $2,200 and I was pretty happy when I called up and it turned out $400 cheaper!
Hope that helps you out, sucks to get swindled by insurers.
