Default Thinking of buying 200sx insted of SS

I am in the market for a new car and i have two options.
    option A. VY SS manual.
    pros:
    holden
    V8
Naturaly aspirated = less probs genraly
    plenty of them
    sounds awsum
    cons:
    insurnace
    plenty of them
    petrol

    option B. 2002 Nissan 200sx S15 manual
    Pros:
    not the comman
    huge suply of parts
    fuel
    look dam sexy
    power to weight
    cons:
    sound
    turbo = possible probs

at the moment i am leaning towards the 200sx even though i love my commys i just see more potential in the 200sx. any thought people. maybe any one own a 200sx??

the s15's are nice and would be cheap on fuel but a vy ss is mighty tempting hard to say.

how bout take them both for a spin and see which one appeals to you the most ?

yeh, i have driven in both and i love the feeling of boost kicking in... so again leening towards the 200sx. but it dosnt have that same raw power and torque a V8 has... decisions decisions.

Or you could stay NA and blow away all the boy racers in their girly style cars all while keeping a sleeper style car.

I wouldn't say fuel is a massive pro on a 200sx. Drive them hard, like any turbo and it'll drink plenty of it.

If you want handling then go the 200sx, if you want a bit of room and often have more than 2 people in your car, power straight out of the box, then go the SS.

Insurance will only be very marginally cheaper than the SS.

no offence minux but the 200sx would beet most SS with very little money spent on it as you dont need the same power because its 450 od KG lighter. yeh i do recognise that if you drove the 200sx hard fuel would be marginal but i dont intend to be chirpn every gear in either car. if you get a non-import 200SX then insurance is about $700 a year differece. i hate having 2 choose between 2 nice cars...

I was looking between a number of different cars and i went with a VY SS and im not looking back at all. SS would beat a 200sx both being stock. Do a bit of work to either and they are going to be quick but i reckon with the SS you will get more power gain with less money spent and it will be quicker than a rice burner. I'm quite partial to a 200sx though, they are nice cars but they are a boy racer type car and don't have the great sound or the balls of a V8.
Go with the SS you wont regret it.

just rung up about insurance for both... OMG!
i have had one accident that i have been at fault and this is the result
    200SX Full comp, totaly stock = $2533
VY SS full comp, totaly stock = $4403 (HOLLY ****!!!!)
that has pretty much desided it for me i think.

that would only be becuse its a v8? in the end its up to you and i spose theres no point in getting a car based on other peoples opinions alone, you have to drive whats comfortable to you. also police are cracking down on alot of imports ect whereas the ss being a newer car is probably not going to be as much of a target (if driven responsibly). with that said as for insurance i would ring around and see what you can get in the end though its up to you!

My mate drives a 200sx mildly modified and it fkn munches fuel, heaps more than his parents VZ SS regardless if he drives sensibly or not.

Both stock, the SS will munch the SX. Do the same mod to each car and watch the SS stay in front. You are kidding yourself if you think you can modify the hairdryer cheaper than you can the SS. What is with people thinking jap crap boy racer cars are the fastest thing on the planet.

i dont think there the fastest thing. heck i love commodores, hence the reason i won one but i also respect the fact there are plenty of other cars on the market that are good to. also jap cars are not "crap" as you so merticuisly put it, there awsum machines 2...just different. i dont think either are better than the other. lol and boy racer... hello young VL owners. lots more dicheads in holdens than other cars... sorry to say.

VL's are slow as **** unless your referring to done up turbos.... More boy racers in stock VN's what think that their VN is the fastest 6 cylinder commodore hahahhahah it still makes me laugh when people from this site say that. And I find it funny how people are calling these type of jap cars "rice burners".

yes me to, rice burners are civic's or lancers with massive exhausts and nothn else, not high performance jap cars eg. skylines, supras, 200sx, evo's etc.

erm, supra high performance? 200sx high performance? You have a very warped imagination. As for boy racers...you obviously do not understand the way it is said.

If i wanted to go buy a new car, I wouldnt be worrying about how much insurance is going to be, Id be more worried about how it drives because frankly thats what it comes down to... YOU HAVE TO DRIVE IT.

I would take the SS anyday, personally im sick of seeing every riceboy around town in a nissan, lancer or some crap that looks like a chicks car.

this is a commodore forum last time i checked so posting that question here is of course only gonna get bias opinions. (most of the time).

the decision is yours but at the end of the day theres no substitute for cubic inch
