Default Wats the go with this?? (regarding power to the wheels)

For a while I've been thinkin bout sumfin. If u weld up ya diff, then grind the spline off one of the axles, and u have direct drive to one wheel....it takes stuff all power to get it roaching.

Our VH wags has a nearly stocko 202 trimatic and it could get into top gear doing a burnout (we did this for a local skid comp) with it's one wheel roaching. Now the 202 wouldn't have anymore then 70rwkw, and that's being extremely generous. Now if u double that u have 140rwkw, now how come an engine which makes 140rwkw wouldn't be able to spin both wheels as good as a 70rwkw engine spins one??

I had to push the skidwagon onto the trailer while my bro (his username is PEAKN6 on here) was in it driving it, I had to push coz it would break traction going up the ramps. When we were using the same setup in PEAKN6 for a few days around the street, if I only just put the accelerator on a little bit to take off it was ok, if I accelerated easilly how I normally would it would just break traction. So how come a 140rwkw engine doesn't break traction that easy??

    I'm confused.

Who said a car with 140rwkw can't spin both?

I'm sure 140rwkw on a car as light as a VH, with narrow tyres, would bag them up far too easily aswell ^^

I think the reason most 140kw cars these days don't have quite as big an issue, is because they run wider tyres, and quite a bit more weight.

That's just my simpleton logic, though. There's probably more to it

Its harder to light up the tires on IRS than live axles. Mine is IRS but takes a bit of effort to get it spinning two wheels. I have LSD and 235 wide tires, but singles spinners should light up tires easy.

It's more to do with inertia loss and weight. You only have the weight of one corner to contend with when only one wheel has drive. With both wheels, you have the entire weight of the back of the car. Also you lose a bit when the power is transfered through the diff and down two axles.

Think of it this way, how much traction would you have hopping on one foot on a slippery surface, then jump with two feet. Same principle, even weight distribution equals better traction.
