    Default Mod a DIFFERENT car

if you could mod ANY car you like, in ANY way you like what would it be?

but, the only catch is it has to be something original and DIFFERENT. not the same old stuff that most people do. bonus points for going to the extreme and picking something that hasnt been done before (to common knowledge). and post up a few things you would do to it.

my pick would be (dont shoot me) a volkswagen karman ghia

running a 4.2L VW V8 out of a pheaton. and a supercharger if it could fit

obviously it would have all the goodies.. chopped, shaved, slammed, lengthened, suicide doors, big wheels and custom grille and rear.

Nice pick Troy! Love the old aircooled VW's.

I'd go for a split screen Kombi with a heavily worked 1.8 20v turbo out of the Audi TT and plenty of brake upgrades. Slammed with a nice set of wheels, but otherwise looking stock (just very clean) externally. Probably metallic cream over mid blue paint.

Interior would have to be properly kitted out but I won't bore everyone with going in to that!!
Whoever said 'There is no substitute for cubes' had obviously never heard of Jet power

if i could afford it, i'd do something ridiculous to one of the old school Saab turbo's, whack either a 2JZtt in there, or a big block with a blower sticking out the bonnet. it'd have to be black, with steel "drag" style rims, hunched stance (raised at rear, low at front), and have a 'chute with big wing out the back
there's just something about that shape that i like...

I actually plan on doing this in the future when time permits.

I want to use a 2 door LJ torana and drop a twin turboed 20b into it. Work from there.

4 x 2 (2WD) - Refers to a two-wheel drive vehicle with four wheels. The first figure is the number of wheels. The second is the number of powered wheels. With a 4x2, engine power is transmitted to only two wheels, usually the rear.

Part-Time 4WD - Refers to a four-wheel drive system that operates on-demand and drives all four wheels by locking front and rear axles together via a shift lever. It usually includes two speed ranges (Hi and Lo). Part-time 4WD systems must be operated in 2WD mode on dry pavement, as they're designed to be used only in specific situations when extra traction is required.

Full-Time 4WD - Describes a four-wheel-drive system that can be operated continuously on all surfaces. A full-time four-wheel-drive system may include the option of part-time operation (allowing you to shift into 2WD on dry pavement for example), and may or may not have Hi and Lo speed ranges.

Automatic Four-Wheel Drive (A4WD) - This type of drive system automatically engages 4WD as needed. When internal monitors sense differences in individual wheel speeds, indicating that a tire is slipping, then 4WD is automatically engaged.

Shift on the Fly - This type of system allows manual shifting from 2WD to 4WD Hi without coming to a stop. Most systems have a speed limit at which you can engage the system; typically it's under 60 mph.

All-Wheel Drive (AWD) - A full-time single-speed system designed to supply drive power to all four wheels. The percentage of front/rear power delivery varies from system to system.

I'd have my '76 Capella back, and put maybe a V6 in it (5 litre if possible), but I'd keep all the exterior mods old school. Lotsa chrome and flared wheel arches.

Mine would be a bolwell nagari.
Hand built in mordialloc Vic between 1969 - 1972 there were only 127 coupes made and 13 convertibles. Originally came with with either a 302 or 351 clevo toploader and a 9 inch diff.
Fibreglass body and they weigh only 950.
Modding it would be sacreligious but if i were to do it would have to be with a new ls2 6 litre and and a T56 suspension work big ass brakes and strengthened diff. Maybe some flare work to the body and some phat ass b45's.
Now that would be one seriously quick car

You really do love your 20b's dont you, they are an awesome engine though, no question about it.

As for something different to mod, a 1972 type 3 Volkswagen Variant (wagon), with a mid mounted W12 from any of the volkswagen group cars, preferably with the turbos....... Or, a 21 Window Bus (aka. Kombi)

Yes they are, even more with safari windows, or the 21 window buses, the delivery vans with no windows are worth a bit too.

20k will get you one done, to an average level, expect even more the earlier they get, and the rarer they get, ill have one one day........ and then EMPI will love me for all the money i will spend with them

Possibly, but show me a torry with a rotary in it. It would annoy so many purists lol.

Sure do, i grew up with rotors, my first modified car was an RX2, i then bought an Rx3, to run a 9 second car in one of these is so simple. Nothing beats sitting on 100 km/h and dropping it back to sit sideways down the road(on a track of course).

I've thought about this many times, ideas have been a mitsubishi outlander with 380 engine (hey they're fun in mud but gutless hence the 380 engine)
or a pillarless impala or bel-air with ls1/2 and force feeding, full retrim/paint. old school charm new school grunt they're the two on top of the list

My favourite classic car, a Triumph Stag, with a LS1 twin turbo, full sleeper look, no wild paint or anything, beat anyone off the lights.

I would like to go crazy on the VW Syncro 16 inch panel van and turn it into an entertainment beast with:
Resprayed in black and with cream leather interior.
    40" High def LCD screen
long leather couch with pull out bed.
Built in 7.1 Harmon Kardon surround sound system, blu ray player, a juke box.
A PS3 integrated as well to play games.
A few 12" subbies all round.
Airbag suspension to drop it on its ass for shows.

No real performance mods so just rebuild the engine give it new life. Maybe a nice sounding exhaust.
simple 18" rims of any sort.
