Default EBay: Does this annoy anyone else?

Is it just me or does it annoy anyone else
Whenever i'm browsing Ebay searching through car parts the amount of "false advertising" is amazing. I find this particularly with so called calais parts that are actually base model. Now i understand some parts are the same and people use it for keyword searches.
Also things advertised eg. "as suit vn/vp"
    Heres some examples
VN VP HEADLIGHT SWITCH - eBay VN, VP, VR, VS, Holden, Car Parts, Cars, Bikes Boats. (end time 12-Sep-07 19:15:41 AEST)
D/S HEADLIGHT VN VP - eBay VN, VP, VR, VS, Holden, Car Parts, Cars, Bikes Boats. (end time 15-Sep-07 20:35:10 AEST)

Hmm... is kinda annoying when doing a search but if you know what your looking for you should be able to tell by the photo.

its not to do that, its so that people who search for similar items see them

e.g. if you regularly search for 'calais', you might come across an item which is flagged by the keyword 'calais' but isn't to suit, yet it still interests you and you buy it.

it's not as if they're advertising a VN Group A twin throttle, only when you go in to find an old dizzy to suit a 202

It could be also that what you have searched for is in the same item group as other things.

I saw a pair of VN V6 S1 tubular manifolds a couple of weeks back and they were described as fitting VN-VS V6. I used the ask a question function and said did he realize they were off a S1 VN and wouldn't fit a VS at all. The comment was never answered.

Yeah it ****s me. I often search for calais parts and come up with stocko parts. I'd imagine searching for HSV parts would be worse.

They dont end up making lots of sales and keep the 100% record in tact. When someone has a few bad reps against them - will you buy from them. Probably not.

There are heaps of stock parts where they add HSV into the description.

It ranges from power window buttons to complete doors.

Its just to increase exposure I suppose.

Has anyone else been more or less "spammed" with fake "questions from potential buyers" on Ebay about one of thier items? I've been getting all these rediculous "questions" asking whether I want to go into business with them, whether I want to obtain items from thier "largest distributor/wholesaler of goods" blah blah blah....

Here's a cut-and-paste of one from an item I had for sale. Oddly enough, the "question" has nothing to do with the item, which was a pair of Japanese market Coke containers, a 500ml bottle and a 375ml can.

I think the response should have something similar to the "name" of the "person" who sent it (dillham)...that being "DILLIGAF"...

So anyone else been selling stuff on Ebay and get these bogus "questions" about thier item, or is it just me getting hammered by them?

wombat thats very common and it usually is people selling electronics, lots of sellers get this. Having an ebay store I would get a dozen or so a week. I used to report but then couldn't be stuffed so I just ignore them now. What pisses me off is when ebay actually cotton onto this and they send u emails saying you have had recent contact with blah blah scammer ensure u didn't give them person details etc. but the email comes through the message system in the form of an alert which you can't delete and it doesnt expire for a month.
