Default Broken Phone, V6 Maxx

Anyone here had a V6 maxx small front screen replaced and know of the approximate cost (or similar phone)? Phone is in getting some warranty stuff done and thought i would find out what they are likely to sting for the front screen.
Telstra on the phone says the whole thing is under warranty, Telstra in the shop says i'll have to pay for the damage to the screen.
I can't really argue the screen cracked itself, i know it wouldn't but i sure as hell can understand how it did!

Also it appears our "telstra shop" doesn't want any affiliation with the telstra that signed my new contract via phone, they rang each other and argued. Another sign that Telstra aren't so handy.

Anyway without this becoming an "i hate telstra" thread, has anyone had this screen work done? I hate the phone but it was free on a telstra contract and i still have a year and a half to go.

"Anyone here had a V6 maxx small front screen replaced and know of the approximate cost (or similar phone)?"

My mate has a Samsung D500 that had a cracked front screen and he got quoted $125 for the screen and $25 for labour so $150 all up. That MAY give you an indication.

"Telstra on the phone says the whole thing is under warranty, Telstra in the shop says i'll have to pay for the damage to the screen.

Physical damage and liquid ingress are the two major culprits that void warranties. It usually needs to be inspected by a technician to deem whether it is covered or not. It is highly likely that it will not be covered.

"Also it appears our "telstra shop" doesn't want any affiliation with the telstra that signed my new contract via phone, they rang each other and argued. Another sign that Telstra aren't so handy."

This usually happens because the store feels that you could of come to them for the sale rather than doing it over the phone. Its not right to take this approach but that's why it usually happens.

For example, the people over the phone get the sale, then you call them up and say my phone is dead then they just send you off to the store to get taken care of, while the store is like 'not my problem, didn't buy it from here' kinda thing.

In the end, they have to take care of warranty repairs (where else is the customer to go), so I don't really understand why they take this approach.

place i used to work did this kinda stuff, and the problem with the V6 is that the front little glass, is attached to the LCD... my educated guess is that you'll be looking at about 200+ unfortunatly..

I just got my new V6 maxx yesterday, the guy on the phone talked me out of some nokia and into this thing, when i got it, i thought the glass on the front is pretty dodgy.... as i work in an industrial environment and my phones get knocked about during the day.

i already busted my V3 beyond repair... gonna have to be way more careful with this one!

not that it helps, but you can get ANOTHER phone thru telstra for a extra charge per month, (basically an interest free monthly payment for a new phone) if it does work out to be too costly to fix. That way you get a intact phone to see out your remainder of contract.

I know its not exactly what you were asking, but I thought Id throw that option in there...

yeah yeah flame me, I know, I know..... lol

*waits 2 more weeks for her FREE Motorola V9* (BTW its now available thru Telstra on $60 plans & above )

Did you tell the person you needed a ruggered phone for the environment you intend to use it in?

If you did, the person needs to be shot. There is a cooling off period over the phone so if its not suitable, you do have the option of replacing it.

The ZTE158 is a ruggerised phone, while its not extremely pretty, it has all the right specifications to be abused, dropped etc. and keep on working.

ZTE Australia > Products > Mobile Phones > F158 for info.

good luck getting the screen done under warranty. tried it several times and it only comes back yadda yada that the fone must of been dropped etc. and it will cost $250. especially with telstra. best bet is to look on ebay, cost of like $30 and a five min job to install.

One of the guys at work just got one of these Motorola things, and had the screen crack on him within the week. It was shattered.

Our employer replaced with a new Nokia 6 series something or other.
