just saw the hot top add![]()
Yeah, good ad. But when it says 'evolution ends here', is that a sign that they won't be making any more utes? That is the first thing that struck me when I saw it.
Freakin fantastic ad! If they had gone through the VP VG VS etc etc ute's that ad would have dragged on a bit! Well done!

my jaw dropped when i first saw the ad and then i started to drool. they did a great job. If they were stopping building the ute why would they bother spenin all this time, money and effort on this model, why not just end it at the vz???
sure beats those other VE ads with that really annoying Go song

the ad reminds me of the BMW evolution advertisement, but i prefer the VE ute ad over it anyday.
i wonder if that tornado with the vu ss is like a flashback to the old thunderstruck ads

Yeah great ad this was really well done by holden again they really make good ad's and ford should hire some of holden's advertisement people to pick up the pace..
I agree they really should have stuck the VS ute in for the VN-VP era.

Great advert, great looking car, by far the best looking ute Holden has ever made. (well...unless you have something like a sweet HZ one-tonner with a custom polished wood tray and big V8...that looks pretty good as well...shame you don;t see many of them around these days...).
The only comment I can make about the VE ute is "it's nice to see new cars and motorbikes getting closer together"...
By that I mean the info that has come out about the new build methods being used...it was very enlightening to see that the whole side panel, front to back, is one single panel of special high strength steel. Insurance companies are already saying that insurance will probably be a lot higher than previous utes, as a side impact won't mean simply cutting out a piece and welding some metal in, a proper repair means the whole side replaced after a decent shunt. and there are claims a lot more vehicles will be simply written off after a good whack from the side...
I say "motorbike and cars getting closer together", for this reason. A lot of sports bikes and sports tourers nowadays can be written off after relatively minor accidents...if the frame is marked or scratched, and cannot be returned to the identical finish of the original material, it's a write-off...in fact, a lot of repair shops won't even attempt to fix such damage, and will just say "it's a write off", and wash thier hand of it for liability fears. I personally know a guy who way back in the nineties had a GSXR-1100 which fell off it's stand in a Woolies carpark, hitting a kerb as it went down. Damage? It cracked the fairing, the windshield, bent the left hand clip on handlebar, bent the gear lever, and broke one indicator. He bent the gearlever out, and rode it home, no worries. He had full comprehensive, and when he asked about insurance, they wanted to write the bike off! They said anytime an alloy framed bike fell on it;s side, at ANY speed (even standing still) there was a chance that the frame could have been stressed or bent, so they take the easy route and write it off.
He cancelled the claim, got some second hand panels, a new indicator from the wreckers, and a new left hand clip-on, and away he went. Last I heard, he still has this bike.
Insurance companies are getting very sneaky and jealous of holding onto every cent you give them in premiums, and they will have a field day with a ute that has a single "special high strength steel panel" for the entire side of the vehicle...![]()
thats a wicked ad. good to see they got a better song now too
