Default Anyone listen to 'Rise Against'

    Hey guys,

Been giving their new album a fair flogging in my car lately, and thought i would see if anyone else out there likes it. They have pretty good music vids too!

I havnt been able to get my hands on any of their earlier albums (my usual source seems to be low on stock). If anyone has heard their older stuff, whats it like? Better/worse than 'the sufferer and the witness'.

If you havent already head over to artist direct

Free Music Download, MP3 Music, Music Chat, Music Video, Lyrics, Music CD, ARTISTdirect Network

Then search a band you know you like, then check out the similar bands listed - theres usually audio so you can preview the songs to get a feel for that particular band. You can listen to rise against older stuff there too.

Never heard of them until this thread, so I checked them out and I have just realised how good their music is. So a big thank you to the original poster for bringing them up.

I got all their albums and The Sufferer & the Witness has to be the best one so far.

Can anyone recommend bands similar to Rise Against? I just started listening to them literately two days ago and I love them. Lol.

^^^ I like your taste in music.

Here's a few more that are a bit less punky and a bit more heavy/rock sorta style.

    Crossfade
    Breaking Benjamin
    The Butterfly Effect
    Three Days Grace
    Funeral For a Friend
Disturbed - (bit heavier than the others but i loved their 'ten thousand fists' album

THE best band in that genre is Alexisonfire, hands down, no competition! their live gig was insane to say the least.
If you haven't heard them, check out their myspace page, listen to This Could Be Anywhere In The World, Rough Hands and Boiled Frogs in that order
will help if you play it on a decent sound system, it's even better on cd turned up in your car to max, good for scaring people too

    edit: also check out Moneen

If i could only listen to two bands for the rest of my life, it'd be them

So They Say is a kick ass band.

The song 'Just forget my name' pretty much defines rock n roll.

Rise Against is a fantastic band, great live band. Considering how big they've become they still hang on the their original sound for the most part. Revolutions Per Minute is by far my favourite by them.

Some similar bands worth checking out:
The Loved Ones (Probably the closest sounding band)
Crime In Stereo (I'm probably the only person who thinks they are alike haha)
Strike Anywhere (A Little more abrasive punk sound)
Pennywise (Share some similarities with RA's older albums)
Lifetime (Veterans of melodic hardcore, but obvious influences for RA)
    Ignite (Similar to Lifetime)

Find them easy enough on Soulseek or maybe iTunes.
