hey all
well, i'm 18 now, have been since mid august, but anyways...
now thinking about getting a tattoo. i was thinking of a tribal symbol on my inner bicep area (think fevola).
jus wondering what everyone thought. i know my parents are completely against it, but i wanted to see what everyone else thought.
has anyone had tattoos done here, and is there anything i should know if i decide to get it done there?
cheers

Hey mate, few things to consider:
Will you get bored of it?
How long have you been thinking about that one perticular tattoo?
Will it ruin any future prospecs? (Job's etc)
Will it outdate?
Is it meaningful?
Are you likely to regret it?
Arms arent to bad, however the underside of the bi-cept, is very painful.. so im told anyway....
Remeber its perminant, that will be on your arm till you die (unless you have it laserly removed and then youll have a scar insted)
Im getting one on my back on thursday morning, from my hips to my shoulders on the left hand side of my back... should be fun!
Just think about it mate, maybe get a temp one (the 3 monthers) and then see if its what you wanted, that way you can just change your mind easly!...
But im all for it, as long as its what you want!
aZk.
no offence but i wouldn't bother with a tribal. it's only a fad. everyone has one. get something that symbolises something about you or something special in your life. how's your pain threshold too? My mate nearly passed out, he went really white. meanwhile i sat chatting to the tattooist the whole time, not to mean i didn't feel anything cos i did. The longer the lines are the more it hurts as they are doing the outline. the colouring in doesn't hurt at all. the one one on the inside of my lower arm felt like i was being cut with a scalpel on the long lines. where the one on my chest felt like more of a burning and dragging feeling on the fattier parts of my breast.
you want something where in the future when you look at it it'll remind you of something or have a meaning other than just some tribal thing you got cos it looked cool.
my next one is going to be a big ned kelly on my bicep with bullet holes in his chest plate cos to me it means you have to fight to survive. but everyone derives different meanings from pictures.
choose wisely is all i can say and remember the future. do remember future job prospects too, most can be covered up though. my wife gave me **** about future jobs cos of mine on my lower arm, but i'm a truck driver so who really cares LOL.
why should our opinion matter? its YOUR body and YOU should decide what YOU want. we dopnt have to live with it, you do
i got no probs withs tatts. I just prefer them to be somewhere that they can be easily covered up. I have a small one on my right shoulder that hardly anyone knows about except for me and my partner.
heres my ride, i know its not much but its mine

As long as they have meaning you won't regret them (well almost wont, regret one of mine).
I have the southern cross on my shoulder blade, a tribal design representing my star sign on my left wrist (inner part of my arm, palm side) and a red back on my right ankle (why o' why did I get thatI got bitten by one when I was younger there so thought a tat of it would be cool).
As for things you should know. Are you getting a design done of your own or something of theirs? If you are going to use theirs look at lots of different places, don't settle on the first place you see.
Settle on price before the work starts, and as silly as it may sound shop around. The going rate is around $80 an hour.
Make sure the place is anally clean!! Hardly any one uses reusable needles now days, but make sure they are disposable ones, in sealed packaging. Make sure the artist wears gloves, etc. Ask to see their certs if in doubt.
Selling FG G6E Turbo and buying a N/A Supra
just don't show your parents till it's healed! my old girl hates them with a passion and i showed her mine like a day after getting it done and copped a nice big slap to it...it cained lol. but seriously if it's really what you want then go for it but just look through the folders they have their (i spent 3 solid hours looking though every folder they had and still got them to draw one up)
it's gotta be something you'll keep forever.

just remember to keep breathing. the problem is that when you feel pain you hold your breath. that's when you'll pass out. think calm thoughts too to control your heartbeat. it races right before they start.
ITS RACING NOW!! hahahaha ive been sketching since i made the appointment on monday! hahaha im getting 2 piercings as well... thought id cause as much pain as possible in the one day...
Problem is ive heard back ones on skinny blokes are painful, like bad... i donnno.... lol... im scared but so excited! hahah
aZk.
LOL damn right they are, imagine your whole skeleton structure vibrating...don't worry though heaps of people go white when getting tats done, my first time didn't hurt at all, in fact it was quite nice but i got it done on my upper arm, the second one i got made me sweat real bad and feel a little light headed and that one was also on my arm (opp elboy)
still didn't hurt getting done and was saying that to the guy and he just said it's your body going into a slight form of shock and it happens to alot of people
basicially all im trying to say is....DON'T WORRY!
and yea $140p/h is what i pay but the guys top notch

Here's mine, it goes all the way around my arm and further up towards my shoulder. Obviously it's not finished yet. I got one pretty much exactly the same on my right calf too, and i have stars and mine and my sisters initials that covers my whole left arm and the writing is done in graffiti.
Tattoos are addictive............be warned
Piercings i'm well over, used to have 2 bars through my lower lip (one on the left and one on the right of my bottom lip), used to have my tongue done, now i just have my nostril done and i have a flesh tunnel in each ear (which are the ear piercings that are big holes in your earlobe)
It's wicked fun getting tattoo's done, but an absoloute pain in the rear looking after them while they heal.......

Troy: yeah i no, but i thought it'd be interesting to find out what everyone thinks.
Maginoodle: definately agree. no offense to any1, but for the line of work i'm looking at doing after uni, i don't think big tattoos would go down well with people
mite wait and c, try draw one of my own, got an idea now

I have thought about getting one but i hate needles . My son has one of a Dragon on his upper arm , looks pretty good . My daughter has a dolphin on her hip and my wife has four , but no there not for me sorry.
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
I've got 2, one on each arm.
I prefer them to be in areas where you can cover them up but that's just me.
I'm going in to get the coat of arms done and also a geelong footy club logo!
yeah i got one on each arm also. one has been there for about 4 years and the other about 4 weeks. one is just a random picture i liked for ages and the other is my daughters name on my forearm. only thing i can tell you is make sure it is what you really want, as you will have it for a very long time.
the pain is neither here nor there. both of them hurt but they were in no way unbearable. as was stated earlier the outline is the bit that hurts, the coloring is nothing.
get a crappy chinese symbol that you vaguely know the meaning of. everyone else is doing it.
