What age do you think?
To get Historic rego the car needs to be 30 years old I think.
So the VN/VP has a way to go before it qualifies
BUT! If I was to keep a VN/VP for the next 12/15 years to qualify what one should it be?
1. VN SS Group A (out of range already)
2. SV5000 (possible)
3. VP Senator 5000i
4. VP GTS
What other model should I consider? the VQ's

and 3 Dangerous non ABS VN's
Id say an SV5000 but not in green. Will be much more rarer than the green in the future in mt opinion. Not sure about the VQs
Should move this to the pub...
We own(my father moreso than I) an SV5000, it is almost the condition it was in when released, it just sits in storage, for me the SV is yet worth anything, still far too many around. I dont think many Commdore based models will be classics except the obvious:
VL Group A Walkinshaw
VN Group A
VS GTS-R
SV300 Maybe
SV6000 perhaps

I'd go with the Group A or SV5000.

There is only 1 SV5000 that could ever be classed as a classic, its white, and manual. Build 1 of 1.
I'm sure VB/B/H SL/Es are getting close now, hard to find an unmolested original

The problem with the VN Clubsport is it looks too close to a factory VN (such as a berlina or something) to be a true collectable in my opinion. It wouldn't catch a collectors eye.
what about a 1969 kingswood??? historic

In Australia from a value point of view in collectibles Bathurst history is king. Thus, of the list quoted above, the GpA will be streets ahead of the rest. Since the VN is the last car that even approaches having a true Bathurst pedigree, the flagship performance name plate will follow and in Holden's case it is the GTS. In every case the GTS (R option in the VS) has the biggest and fastest of all the performance gear. Other models will get to a "collectable" status but they will be far less predictable. Given enough time, even the humble exec will be somewhat collectible because there will be only a handful of that model left that are still drivable. Their value will still be relatively low though.

hmmmm yep plain jane - true. But it is the first Clubsport.
The Clubsport is ment to be the workhorse no bull type car. The VN Clubsport came and went with me even knowing about it. Only took notice when the VR Clubsport came out.
Could it be 'the sleeper' in the VN range? maybe. But it is plain.

Great point - Bathurst history. I guess its like a HR they made lots of them - most are now dead or very close to it. So any HR in working order get good money.
So I'm thinking when the hoons are finished with a particular model and move onto the next up the line there is a time when not many are left and thats when the value goes up.

good condition vb,vc,vh and vk should be soon. i mean no rust, straight panels etc.....got one now
VB I could maybe see as having a collectable value as the first commodore and very few were produced also.
But VC, VH and VK will never be a collectors car imo unless they are a special model like a Brocky or something.
An early VB SL/E V8 in mint condition. I think any Holden in its Original condition with almost 0 miles has collectability. The GTS's and SS' they get top billing - all those models. But even the base model gets a chance if it has very low miles on the clock and mint.

May I add the the VP GTS was the First GTS in the "HSV" range and first to get the GTS badge since the early Monaros.
