I also have applied for a glazing and locksmith Apprenticeship. what you guys think?
Australia. Love it or leave it
from a guy i used to work with, he reckons you can easily take home between a grand to 2 grand in the hand doing air con and refridge. once you're qualified.
id take it becasue once your finished u can just work for yourself

a few of my mates are doing air conditioner apprenticeships, long hours and pretty hot crappy working conditions but good pay,17 YO first year taking home $240 a week isnt too bad!
2nd and 3rd year your basically fully qualified as there isnt alot to learn at tradeschool, worth doing if you enjoy hard work
my dad is a refridgeration mechanic and i used to work holidays with him. in summer its awesome fun in the roof of a house at 50 degrees lol...
nah i enjoyed it, its easy to learnt things and pick up stuff real easy along the way. it didnt get boring too easy lol...
and now im a first year computer salesman lol
Need some parts for my VH 253:
Green standard steering wheel...Green lower B-pillar covers.
Green sunglasses holder/lower dash bits...Air-con and assorted engine bay parts.
PM with any info.
don't do glazing, same thing every day, find something where you'll at least have different things to do all the time.
as for money, average for a first year is around $250-$300 a week, its crap, but think of your mates at uni PAYING that per week to study...

a trade is good too get into, im doing an apprenticeship in automotive manufacturing (coachbuilder) and its pretty interesting. I get 320 - 420 a week as a first year and its a highly regarded trade.
My brothers in-laws own their own air con and commercial refirdgeration business. Business is always good. Home installations and supermarket refriderators always need fixing. Just like any apprenticeship the money is typical but what do you expect as a teenager learning a trade. Once your apprenticeship is done you'll be making a tidy profit.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
I am meeting up with the air con guy tomorrow and we are gonna have a talk about whats involved and stuff
Australia. Love it or leave it
become a "maggot" (overtime freak) and become richthats the way bro, i love OT ill work 24/7 if i get the chance
im a fu lly qualified electrician, good pay, extreamly good pay, i earn more than the refridge and aircon guys.
you wanna do a trade, go down the path of refridge. hasties, bakers, fridge right, macalpien hausman. they work with the big stuff, not small ****y crap in houses, they are a eba paying company. yoru hourly rate will be double the award. have a chat to them.
eitehr way, aircon and refridge is a good trade to learn. good skills. at times it can be dirty hard work, but at times it's good clean work.
the choice is yours, but yeah, i do recoment refridge.
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
it also depends where u live on the rate
i got 200 a week as a first year machinist before the boom
been fitting for a couple of years now and in wa mines there are sum jobs goin for 100k a year on a 8 days on 6 days off roster. u do the maths
Buddy get into a trade. I'm a fitter machinist for 38 yrs ok?..in 1970 i was earning $19.90 in my 1st year. You gotta DO IT NOW and the $$$$ will follow.Boilermaker,Fitter, toolmaker, refridge mech, motor mech,sparky,...We all done our time...ps...i do miss my HR panel van ...GOOD LUCK YOUNG FELLA!!!
yeah bro im a 2nd year fridgy, its a good trade but get into a big company that does intalls and servic e work in the city or somwhere, installs are pretty boring once youve done a few but service work (mainly breakdowns) is where it gets interesting.
also i mayo r may not have been doing cashies and you line them up one after the other, you could do 2 a day once you got all your tools and i usually charge about 300 plus expences NO electricity hook up tho as im not qualified for thaT AND thats big **** if you get caught, not bad but good money.
oh and first year i was on above award in qld, 240 a week is what i was getting.

Hey do the electrician and fit and wire them up yourself, Some guys come out and fit A/C's but leave the wiring to Electricians, Kill 2 birds with 1 stone pocket it all yourself.
I got a guy coming to fit a A/C for summer a split converter, He's fitting it and sending a Electricians to wire it, They split it 50/50 It's about $700 but there doing it for $500.

Im not sure if im interested in it now, because i was more interested in domestic work. I dont want to be at the same place every day. Maybe i should just keep looking for an electrician apprenticeship. Thats what i wanted to start with, but i cant seem to find any electricians in canberra that are looking for apprentices. 1st year award wage for air-con is only $6.20hr
Australia. Love it or leave it
6.20 an hour is pretty much basic for most trades first year. unless your doing commercial work. but things like electrician etc will get you more money. plumbing seems to be good once youve qualified. im a joiner. unfortunately not commercial work.
the government just gave my boss more money to pay us more as an insentive. not sure who got it though, id say more companies than just where i work though. perhaps just victoria though.
good luck with whatever you decide to do.![]()
A friend is currently doing an apprenticeship in that. It's a seasonal job (Here in Vic anyway) but the OT in the warmer months means you can make a very good living if you are prepared to put in.
As with anything, the more you put in, the more you will get out of it.

I'm an apprentice sparky and loving it... 3rd year now and taking home an average of around $740/week, can easily make $1000+ with a bit of overtime plus all the allowances we get. That's take home, not before tax.
First year I was taking home a minimum of around $350 a week, if I got $450 I was very happy. Second year I'd take home a minimum of around $470, but anywhere up to $600 was normal.
I work for a biggish company though, so I'm on EBA rates... award wages are obviously much less than that. I have a mate that's on 4th year domestic wages and earning a fair bit less than I was getting as a 2nd year. His work is heaps harder too.
But yeah, obviously I'm very happy in my trade and would definitely recommend anyone to get into it... the work is good and money is great. Plumbers also earn a bit, similar to sparky's but not quite as much. Apparently fire sprinkler fitters earn heaps too, and I reckon they've got the easiest job on any site I've ever been on, but you don't have the advantage of a license that electricians and plumbers have.
