got sent a file yesterday which i stupidly accepted over msn. it puts some program virus onto your comp and then sends the same thing to everyone on your online list over msn. anyone know how to get rid of the f**king thing?
ive tried 2 different anti virus things. both found two viruss. deleted them. and its still happening.
figured someone herewould know something. thanks.
i got rid of it when my sister managed to get it on my comp by typing msconfig into the run function (start - run) then going to the startup tab and unchecking susspect looking programs lol, it worked.
We had that aaaages ago. I think Stocky helped us get rid of it. I'm pretty sure it was Stockers.

Tomorrow doesn't look good either.

google the name of the file and there is usually a remove tool that you can download. Usually works for me when things like this happen.
If it is the same one we had, it's just called 2. Or Two. One or the other.

don't throw away good hardware because of a software problem that's just a plain waste. if your sick of viruses try linux and use AMSN, it didn't get affected by that problem
Other option is format the hard drive and re install what ever operating system you use.
Google the name of the virus that your anti virus software found. Chances are it may have deleted the file from where it was downloaded to, but your registry is still infected. A removal tool will generally go through the registry and delete all the values associated with that particular file.
lol me mate sent (accidentally) me that but my antivirus software reversed the registry change it caused (thank god lol...trend micro ) but my mate still hade it.....i cant think of the site (link) that i gave him to get rid of it though ..sory.
i guess u could try useing spybot search and destroy....it may fix it......cant hurt
otherwise as everyone has said try googleing what the message says and go from there.....
but ill try and find that link...BUT dont get your hopes up though
Restart you computer in safe mode and do a virus scan. Google the name of the file it finds.
you can stop lying to people, and tell then it was from the gay porn you were watching.
Alternatively, don't accept things people send you, ever, unless they specifically say in 'their' language they are going to.

I hate reformatting, all the crap you have to go through to reinstall all your sh*t. It took me 3 days to put everything back on last time.
too true.
anyway a few mates had this virus too, I tried helping them remove it by googling the name of the zip folder and file inside it but couldnt find anything. even ran 'hijackthis' a couple of times and spent ages reading through the logs and couldnt find anything suspicious. ended up removing it by downloading random tools that we could find lol.
funny tho how people just accept anything over msn without thinking![]()
Unless it is a boobie pic, I never accept.....
pornographic material usually leads to virus's or nasty adware/spywaresingle images seem harmless tho.
if everyone is sick of formatting, load everything, update eveything, then create and image of it....
it works better if you do the following.
:Format comp.
:Install Windows, as soon as its done, make an image.
:Update windows, set it up as you want(not backgrounds and skins, i mean hardware profiles etc etc.), make an image
:Install all your drivers, make an image
:Install all you apps, make an image
Store all images on seperate DVD's (thell be around the 5gb mark, if not, winsplit will sort it out onto several dvds.)
That way, you can skip al the boring re-install crap. Its what i do and works a treat. All you have to do is load the image you want to work from and update and move on from there. Simple!
aZk.
also, did you let the person who sent it to you that it was sent? my sister had this a while back and it would continually send itself to her contacts upon her signing in, i declined the exe and approached her, turned out it opens a chat window with this fake jibberish, does its deed then closes or hides the window, too bad her machine was laggy to heck, made it so obvious.
attn Über geeks, i play Second life. Patrio Graysmark.
hasnt been on since i dont think. he's off this forum actually
but i think i gave it to a few people in the meantime. everyone as stupid as me to accept a zip file
im getting it a fair bit now i just keep declining. lol
someone tried to send to me last night on msn i totally ingonored it.
