I know its a bloody rip off. Freakin government don't obviously get enough money here in SA. and if i take the fine. it means i have to stay on my P's for an extra year.
restrictions? well on p's u can't travel over 100k. you have 4 demerit points. You can't drink drive (obviously) and yeah. you loose points if u take it. it leaves you with 1. which is pretty much nothing. so next time you screw up. you loose your licence.!
get this. a couple of years back was heading to a mates place with another mate in the car, coming over the story bridge (ipswich bound lane) letting the car roll and what do i know a 'cruiser park in opposit lane and flashed me and we werent sure if it was me but we dismissed it and didnt worry bout it. then another year later i get a spurs letter with all my fines (2 in total) and yeah that mug shot of me cruisin down ipswich road at kangaroo point- i was doin less than 13k over the speed limt (60) so i lost 2 points and a $130 i think fine but i get my opens in january so its not like im spewing or anything.
jesus man that's tough - move to WA bro, u'll have all 12 pts to lose or i should say acumulate, can do 110km/h on open road, 'p' for 2 yrs & drive any horsepower car u like, but still maintain an exact or less than 0.02% alcohol limit....as u can see our pollies over here are a bit behind the rest of the country.
For ****s sake, you are breaking the law and YOU are whinging?
Perhaps if you weren't breaking the law by driving fatigued you wouldn't have got a fine for again breaking the law by running a red light.

Hahaha, I was going to say something but I don't have to now....except I agree with minux.
Hey Minux, normally I'd agree %100 with your above comment. However, I'm also a shift worker and know how hard it is to function on the amount of sleep I get when I'm on the nightshift.
I'm lucky to get 5 or 6 hours of interrupted sleep on this shift: dogs barking, postman, kids next door, room too light, etc, etc.. What do you suggest I do when I'm finished work, sleep here until the next day? There is no public transport, and I'm not in the position to be able to afford a taxi everyday.
Anyone else that's a shiftworker care to comment on this?
Yeah. DRIVE CAREFULLY WHEN TIRED. Red lights aren't rocket science, it's a fairly basic concept that most people have no trouble grasping even when tired. Red stop, yellow stop if ya can, green go. Anyone who can't handle that shouldn't be on the road. If you're so tired that you can't deal with the concept of traffic lights, you're a hazard to other road users. My suggestion would be to find somewhere quiet to park up and take a half hour nap, it really does help.
Beau Duke: Man, I'm never gonna get outta this car again. I'm gonna live in it, I'm gonna eat in it and I'm gonna make sweet love to it!
Luke Duke: You mean you're gonna make sweet love IN it.
Beau Duke: Oh no, I'm gonna have sex with it.

Having never done shiftwork I can't comment on that, but I did spend a fair bit of time on the road in my last job. Sometimes driving 500kms in a day. This can be tiring too, but I see a red light when it's in front of me. And there is even less of an excuse if it is a road commonly travelled, you will know where the lights are, and should be watching for a change.
Hah, you blokes are so damn predictable with your responses. I'm sure like a lot of shiftworkers out there, I myself, have tried everything I can think of to make the run home easier.
I'm sure that we all also take extra care. However, surviving on this amount of sleep every week is difficult. I rotate between the early and the late. I get up at 2.40 am one week and the next that's just about the time I'm going to bed.
.....and btw, yes I know the difference between a red and a green light )))
FFS if you can't handle shift work without getting sleepy on the way home which has the potential to kill yourself and any other poor bastard who may cross your path do us all a favour and qit your job and get a day job. Is the extra shift allowance really worth someones life?
In regard to the room being too light, my hubby is also a shiftworker and had the same drama, what u ought to do is buy some thick blockout curtains, they will turn your room from day to night. If you can't afford blockout curtains a blanket or quilt cover hung over the windows work quite well too.

sigh, why do I bother![]()
Fcuking SA ay? I got a parking fine last week for being 12 mins into a clearway..$153!
Its like they have nothing better to do.
[QUOTE=Mack;650473]At the risk of turning this personal. I have heard this lame 'get yourself another job' a thousand times. I'm fifty years old. Are you going to give me another job? Are you also going to pay my mortage, put my kids through school and place food on my table?
It's like you have no concept of following rules. Even if you were 20 seconds into a clearway, they have every right to fine you.
I used to do shift work.
The first night shift is a real bastard and you really have to be on your toes when driving home but it is hard when you are tired from lack of sleep. After the first one its usually ok.
But the key is how you prepare yourself for the first one. If you do it correctly, then you shouldn't be any more tired in the morning then what you would be after a day shift.
I hate people who park in clearway's/no stopping areas that block carpark entrances!!! I park behind a building in the CBD right and on market day everyone is out and about, this one silly ford driving hillbilly came and parked her POS in the drive way. I stopped in the middle of the road and honked for her to move, nothing happened...honked again...nothing, meanwhile cars were piling up behind me, so I sat there with my horn held down untill the fat btch realized I WAS WAITING FOR HER TO MOVE. Moral of the story, don't park where your not supposed to.
