Default Nokia wrong time on SMS

    Hey all

just wondering if anyones ever had this problem, not nessecarily with this model phone?

I have a Nokia 6233 with Optus. Ive had it almost 12 months. I noticed today the time stamped on my recieved SMS are way off, for instance someone sent me a message just after 3pm and it sayd something like 12:08am or something.

The date and time is right on the phone, I assume its something to do with Optus messaging center.

But how do I fix it, if I can fix it? Ive tried searching the net with no luck I tried ringing Optus today but got left on hold for too long.

I thought I'd ask as someone here might have had a similar problem with their 6233 ... or other phone.

are recieving the message right when it is sent, or at the later time?

    example:

    time message actually sent: 3:00pm
    time message received: 3:01pm
    time displayed: 12:45am

    or:

    time message actually sent: 3:00pm
    time message received: 12:45am
    time displayed: 12:45am

are you sure there isnt a delay in when you receive the message. i know with mine if it is out of service and i get a message when i pick up service it displays the time the message was received on my phone, not the time the message was sent

    if you understand..?

Timestamps on SMS messages are done by the sending network. You don't have much control over them unfortunately. They do however run on timezones, so your phone "timezone" or location may be incorrect.

It would be the timezone of the message server. I have noticed the same with my sister's SMS's, she is with Craptus too.

must just be a damn optus thing because Im recieving the messages instantly or close too, but the time is wrong.

I think theres an option there to use a second message server, I might try that one and see how we go
