    Default What's in a name?

It has become quite the fashion for car companies to have a "performance" brand for their products. Of course Holden have HSV, Ford have FPV, Mitsubishi have Ralliart and (my favorite) Mercedes have AMG.

Nomatter what you think of the products, all of these are excellent names. They add an edgy excitement to the marque and create an aura of exclusivity that you are driving something special.

Then we get to Toyota. WTF is a TRD? Every time I see the badge I wonder who wants to be seen driving a TuRD? Toyota are the masters of building whitegoods on wheels but I never thought that would extend to a dunny.

its sad that all the newer toyotas follow the same basic design now, ie

yaris and corrola look the same now,

camry and aurion look the same, well they are the same,

rav4/v6 to kluger to the new landcrusier (not released yet) all look the same

hilux has similar dash to the prado

    etc etc,

but i wouldnt mind having a trd aurion, looks tough

Maybe it's because I'm a bloke but if you asked me what HSV/HRT means, I would not have said either of those responses.

Oh yes, i learnt that the hard way...i was googling "HSV VT", looking for a photo of a VT Clubsport, when i came across an image...of a....erm....infected "thing".

I don't want to think about it.

For the record, the other day i saw a Hyundai with "HSV - HYUNDAI SPECIAL VEHICLES" plastered all over it. Is there really a Hyundai Special Vehicles, or just another dumbass tryhard Hyundai driver trying to be "kewl"? *cringes*

TMR sorry, not MRT....sort of yes. Ralliart is the commercial name, TMR is the development team.

Two different things, MOPAR is the parts and service side, SRT is the performance side.

personally i don't really care about the name, HSV could of been called GHSV ( Gay Holden Special Vehicles ) and i wouldn't care because the cars themselves are great!
    We got rep back, yaaay!
