My Mum had full comp insurance on her VX, and she was paying about $15 a fortnight.
Is there anything illegal about me putting my VK in her name and getting full comp on it? I realise it would be a bit more coz the mods list is quiet large...but is that allowed?

rego has to be in same name as the insurance else they can void the claim. If your mod list is that long you will not get insurance thru a 'normal' insurance company ie SGIC, CGU etc....
you will have to try JustCars or Shannons (JC charges an arm & a leg thou, at your age may be your only option, but push your club involvement to Shannons & they may take you on)
My insurance is in my dads name, im nominated second driver and im paying 500 a year on insurance. Over a grand difference if i was insuring it. I havent had any issues, but i havent every crashed the car into anything to find out.
When i get the Clubsport next year, there is no way people are going to insure me, so the car is going into mums name.
my car is in my mums name and me as a 2nd driver but my insurance is $2000 a year still, thanks to a 6 mnth suspension lol
JC are not always the cheapest or the best they wanted $1600 a year to insure my vx ss and i was 26 at the time.... only mod was a stereo system in it....
Also to top it all off if i claimed they wanted 400 basic excess and 450 high performance excess
Rang GIO who have been with for a while and they were cheaper $800 and covered my stereo for what its worth too and no over the top excess if i claimed......
Yeh I know what you mean. They are a very unpredictable company, I know people like 19, 20 etc with stock VS & VR V6's and they are paying like anything from 1600-1900 a year with JC.
Driving record does help a lot aswell. Like my brother is paying same as I am on a n/a VR SS, hes 20 and lost his license before, so your record really makes a big difference.
Yeah ive got to do some research soon for when i buy the new car, so i might ring up Just Cars on different days and see what happens haha. They might have theme days.
MONEY MONDAY, All premiums and excesses today are DOUBLED.
TURBO TUESDAY, no turbo cars get insured on this day.
WRX WEDNESDAY, Own a rexxie? No insurance for you.
TOYOTA THURSDAY, Oh what a feeling, charging Toyotas tripple excess if they have a cannon exhuast.
FIVE LITRE FRIDAY, You guessed it, no V8s get insured today.
Shannons are really good IMO for heavy modified cars, however they do only usually insure people over 25. they do make exceptions for those involved in clubs etc, proving their passion for cars......
they are well valued & were decently priced considering they covered EVERYTHING including the full custom panels. Unlike JC who want to insure but not cover stereo or certain mods or wheels etc.... based on 'market value' bah too many hoops!
Many banks and financial institutions offer car insurance. It's worth doing an online quote with them. I'm with ING for car insurance and they offer the cheapest by a mile. Also now my mortgage is with ING as well as home insurance
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
Lol @ the people paying over 1k for a NA V6, talk about getting ripped a new arse hole.
