walk into the dealership and demand to see the manager
Hello all,
I have a long-term issue with my car which I bought under finance from Hunter Holden at Ryde, I brought up the problem when the car went back with a 'sploded gearbox and it wasn't fixed (they apparently deliver the car to a mob at Auburn for the 3 month bumper to bumper warranty repairs, etc.), and since then I took the car back to Hunter twice to have them look at it, it wasn't fixed.
Anyway, I took the car to a reliable local mechanic (family friend for years, services all our cars except mine which needs to be done by Holden) and he fixed the problem in one go, which turned out to be the Throttle Position Sensor.
So anyway, I have an invoice covering the cost of the part and labour, and I'm trying to get Hunter Holden to pay for it, being as it has been back to them three times now to get it fixed. I've tried contacting their service department directly and they're not interested in helping me out (passing the buck back to the mob at Auburn). I emailed Holden from their website and had a couple of conversations with a state business manager, he said that the warranty provided by the dealer is only covered by the dealer, so I'd have to try and get them to do it.
So I rang the service department back at Hunter, and got nowhere, and so now I'm trying to find contact details either for 'the big honcho' at Hunter Holden, or someone at Holden, much higher up who is actually going to be interested in helping me out and displaying good business practise especially considering the amount of money they're leeching out of me.
And considering the experience I've had with Hunter, this may just be the last Holden that I buy.

Did you purchase under a different name?
If the story as you tell it is true and the costs from your mate are reasonable I'd be happy to pay the invoice....don't know why my people haven't already??
Feel free to contact me direct at the dealership 8878 7878.

Now that is good service!
Well since I always try to give credit where credit is due.
Adam has very promptly helped me out without any trouble, and I greatly appreciate being refunded for the full cost of the repairs which I received in the form of a cheque just today. Since this whole incident has been resolved I suppose I should withdraw any grudge until further notice.
But I do have some advice for those buying vehicles - if a problem shows up in the first 3 months, get it fixed straight away and make sure it's fixed or it'll probably turn into a headache down the track (for both yourself and Holden... assuming all their dealers have the 3 month thing).

If only EVERY Holden dealer was this dedicated to service. I have given up on service from Holden in the ACT. They couldn't explain to me why my car was driven 9km when it went in for the battery/BCM recall. I even specifically asked if my car would be driven and was told no. I have such hatred for the ACT Holden Dealers.
Might have to drive up to Hunter Holden from now on!
i didnt get my VT directly from a holden dealer but i do know what its like when a car yard wont deliver on any warrenty issues.
i got my VT 5 litre and the water pump started to make weird noiseswiithin the first 3 months...i rang them and they told me they wont touch it until it is absolutely rooted.
i told them that i dont want to be stranded anywhere when it breaks down...they told me to get a tow truck (at my expense) and get it towed there to be fixed.
so i decided to go to the mechanic they go through for any repairs...the guy who owned the mechanics gave them a ring and basicly told them he would cease to do buisiness with them if they continued to treat customers like this...then the next day i got a phone call saying they have the part in and for me to bring the car down to be fixed....
they werent happy but hey what can they do.
this is a great thread, that Mechanic sounds like an absolute gun, and that Holden Dealer, I love a boss who knows when they are cornered and take apropriate action to resolve the situation, or int his case it seems, the boss who comes in to find thier employees have made them look like an ass, take responcibility and fix it.
Awesome to see how easily this problem was resolved! Good form Hunter Holden![]()
I wish my mechanic was willing to go the extra mile. I needed a new PS pump and the mechanic failed to flush the rubbish out of the system, as a result bits of the old pump bloked up the solenoid in the rack. I had it back to them four times in 3 weeks. In the end they say they can't fix it and they're not equiped to flush the system. I cleared it myself and stuck a PS filter in the line and no more problems. My motto is do it right the first time. That mechanic no longer has my business.
Car theives should be treated just like horse theives and cattle rustlers in the days of the wild west... Hang them!
Don't be stupid. Power isn't measured by the size of your tacho
Good on you Mr Hunter holden,
perhaps you could weave some majic with the St leonards branch. I had my car serviced there about 18 months ago to fix 2 issues. A trans fluid leak and a faulty TPS.
Unfortunately they didn't fix either of them. I took it back and was then charged again for the second service and still only 1 of the issues was fixed.
Needless to say I have reverted to servicing my commodore myself and do a much better job of it.
Commodores are great cars but can be a real pain in the @#$%^& when they don't run properly.
Holy thread revival Batman!
LOL good call
