Can somebody please tell me why some people are stupid enough to risk this?
Why pay for an overseas holiday to Thailand for complicated surgical and dental procedures?
Would anyone here actually put their own body in risk by allowing a largely unqualified doctor perform complicated surgery on their body because its half the price?
LMAO, i wont even allow Indians/Chinese etc to do work on me here unless they have been educated here.

I've seen so much of it on Today Tonight and ACA etc. about people having all these complications etc. costing them thousands more than it would have because they have to have everything repaired a few months down the track when they get back. Along with serious infections etc.
I can't help but just think its their own fault for being stupid enough to go to thailand for surgery.
They cannot honestly believe that in Thailand they are going get the same quality surgery that they would in a medical world leading country like Australia.
Putting lives at risk to save a few grand. And its nearly always cosmetic crap as well, especially the dental surgery and breast surgery.
Not exactly surgery, but some bloke went to Thailand and got a tattoo over there celebrating the Geelong Cats AFL Grand Final Victory. Anyway, spelling mistakes all over it and the guy who did it wrote "LEFT ARM" and "RIGHT ARM" on his arms where the guy had written on the design which arm has what.
With the conditions half these countries live in, its not surprising by the time they get back to Australia after their surgery, they arent dead.
Didnt that guys tattoo have a spelling mistake like...
Instead of DAY PREMIERS it said GAY PREMIERS or something?
Its their decision, so be it. Thats not our problem, its theirs. They choose to do it, they should know the risk involved.
If dead - nothing much can be done about it except try warn others not to do it.
I dunno hey, I have never been to Thailand so I have no idea what their hospitals are like but its been reported just this week that an operating theatre here had ****roaches crawling through it so I don't think I'd have any operation done voluntarily!
^^ that was the womens and childrens hospital here in SA i think.
We got rep back, yaaay!
But getting it done overseas will get you "the best possible price"
*eye roll*
Our population needs to wake up and understand you get what you pay for with everything in life...
The asians were always way smarter than everyone else at my school id rather pay less money for smarter people to operate on me. but thats just my opinion

Come on down and see the idiot right here.
You aint up to Fudge all buddy
Why would i? Because i prefer to not have people educated in this poor conditioned countries work on my body?
Has nothing to do with being racist, i know a Doctor who was educated in India before finally getting into a position over here. What he has told us is scary. I would just prefer modern western world doctors do the work.
I agree, they are quite smart, unlike most Aussie kids who prefer to eat food and play video games these guys are in the library preparing their future.

Thats cos a huge number of aussie kids are typical spoilt western children. For the record, at the highschool i went to, the foreign kids were ones with ****ty marks (along with a huge number of non foreign...)
Imo the only reason people think any particular group is "smart" or "stupid" or "annoying" is cos they stand out appearance wise and thus we tend to notice the group members more and watch for any outriders which are then taken as the norm...
As for scapel tourism. Well, you get what you pay for. I would personally pay top dollar for any sort of surgery. My health is worth too much to me to be cheap about it.

I actually never accused you of being racist (bit of a raw nerve, eh?) However, some of your comments in this and other posts, are quite extreme.

Okay, you're being honest; fair enough. However, I consider it extreme that you wish 'useless idiots' be shot. I still think that perhaps you should consider the Shooter's Party as your preferred party. Minux, I'm glad that you don't make the laws, as you might consider someone that can't cope with quotes a useless idiot!

Scalpel tourism can make a great deal of sense. I know many of the Asian hospitals would poo all over a lot of the Australian ones. They wouldn't even come close. However those hospitals are only available to the upper strata's of society and the costs from those hospitals would rival, if not exceed Australian costs.
The whole thing is about money though. The operators, buy low and sell high. They buy crappy services and sell it to the dumb Aussie consumer at a price lower than in Australia, but high enough to make a decent skimming.
With some good research, scalpel tourism could be a very good thing. But the time spent on researching could be put to much better use here in earning the money, rather than trying to save it.
From what experience do you speak of here?
You have over tones of bigotry, not all of us aussies are not capable of reasearch.
It has everything to do with poor hygiene, funding and experience.
If I needed vital surgery or corrective surgery, mark my word's I would be looking in my own backyard first.
I have been to many different Asian countries and have seen first hand what they're like. I'm not talking your usual bunch of mates go to Thailand/Bali for a weeklong **** up, I've spent quite some time travelling in Asia.
My comments have nothing to do with bigotry aimed at a whole race. For a particular group of people to dive into major corrective surgery in an unknown hospital in an unknown (to them) foreign country reeks of lunacy to me. For you to extend my view of this coterie and apply it to the Australian population is laughable.
I suggest you re-read my above post a little more carefully and then highlight portions of my original post with your rebuttals.
