When i had my 1972 Statesman i replaced one of the transmision line that had a leak . Everything went well till i realised that i used a ring spanner and that one end of the trans line was connected to the cooler and the other end to the box and i couldn't get the spanner off.

    hahaha, love that ^_^

I just spent about ten minutes trying to pry my exhaust to the side so I could get a socket and driver onto my 13mm tailshaft CB mount bolt. After crying tears of frustration, and thinking I'd have to remove the exhaust to get in there - I reached to my left, grabbed a 13mm spanner, and had the bolt off in about fifteen seconds.

Forgot to do up the bonnet pins on my old ford. Did an oil change and tune up. Took off down the road and the bonnet flew up in front of the windscreen. Scary.

Removed the center console in my VS, installed stereo, tried to start the car with the auto shifter not in N or P, and wondered why it won't turn over.

Replaced the globes in the HVAC unit, had pulled the air hoses off of course, wondered why it wouldn't work... Went joyriding to release anger (Unwise I know) and only THEN did i discover the engine needed to have run to recreate the suction.

Installing power windows the other day, did both rear doors... Got to the front passenger, spent 30 minutes trying to put the drivers side reg into the passenger door. Called SniperKnight over.. He spent a further 10 minutes looking at it before calling me a ********, and posting the results on facebook.

My stereo has a rather chunky plug sticking out the back of it... In my infinite wisdom, I punched a hole for it to sit in through the plastic 'wall' at the back of the deck area... Guess what's behind it? The air vent piping. My stereo got some impromptu heating.

Putting my rims on; Had the front two on, jacked the rear passenger up, put wheel on, finger tightened nuts... Got told dinner was cooked. Dropped the jack, went inside and had dinner. After dinner, went back out side and did the remaining wheel, completely forgetting that I had to properly tighten the nuts. 1 week later, Surprise, Rear passenger side wheel starts making knocking noises... Wheel nuts incredibly loose, very lucky I didn't damage the studs.

Haven't really stuffed with mechanical things, so most of my screw ups aren't too bad to fix...

I got a new one today. Changing over injectors, undid the chamber lid, and undoing the bolt that hold the plenum chamber to the intake manifold, dropped the last bolt (the one and te back end of the engine) down the rear runner, I'm like F#CK. Thankfully this is the only day of the week my parents car is home, so run up to Autobarn and get one of those magnets on the flexible rod, shitty little magnet too. Spent about 20 minutes getting that damn bolt out but finally success. Started reassembling, doing chamber bolts back up, dropped the same bolt down the same runner, . After some choice word got that damn magnet out again, 20 minutes later all good. I really gotta stock some JD cans around the house for after sh!t like that.

Wasnt me but helping my brother service his vs ute we where unable to find an oil filter wrench. So out comes the screwdriver. After puncturing the oil filter and taking it off he decides to put an engine flush in. So back on goes the punctured filter. Thinking that a little pressure with his hand will do the task Im grinning as I turn the ignition over and The engine fires up. yep. He's one oily man! All over his face and clothes. The exhaust was smoking for days and days

LMAO... This thread is so funny...

    My latest was today,

1st i tried using a drill, without plugging it in,
Then an electric sander, without plugging it in,
Then i forgot to plug a air hose on a gravity feed gun, Lots of mess,
Then went to start the car, without the battery connected,
Then i couldn't figure out why my headlight and indicator wouldn't work...can you guess what the problem was?

Was not a good day today
    Just my 2 cents worth...

Most recent stupid thing I've done:

A friend managed to break her drivers door on her camry (it rolled down a driveway, with the door open, into a gate piller. Long story, don't ask). Anyway, I went to the wreckers, found a new door with better paint then her old door, replaced it, all good!
A week later I found out that I had forgotten to change the locks over with the door. She's getting into her car via the boot at the moment, which doesn't half look suss when she's at the supermarket....

OMG i am so overtaking this thread.

ok, ok. did an oil change on a car. filled it with oil, took it for a drive and heard a BANG, suddenley no oil pressure. "oh crap" says i, luckily i was only 20 meteres from the workshop so drive it back. check it. "thats reaLLY WEIRD" the oil filter has blown off. so i put it back on, fill it with oil. tighten it up like a mutha f..er, start the car, rev it BANG!! oil pissing out all over the floor. think "hmm, must be a dud filter", grab a new one off the shelf, fit it, fill it with oil again, start the car, BANG!!! $%^&*)(*&^%%^ wtf is going on...... oh, thats the wrong oil filter.... lets try fitting the right one, oh, that works....

had to clean 8 litres of oil off the floor and kitty-litter 4 liters off the street. the rubber ring wasnt even close to toching the seal. was running out of thread, hence it getting tight. unscrewing with a bit of pressure, the BANG!
    __________________________________________________ _______________

so i have filled my oil catch can, something like 60 liters of old black yuk oil. so to drain this puppy you have to put the drain hose in an empty oil drum, seal the drain pipe, hook it up to the compressor and wait till oil the oil is blown out.

one thing i didnt do is lock the drain hose onto the oil drum. was standing right next to the thing when this happened.

in this one you can see the spot where i was standing cos' there is a patch of floor with no oil on it.

the hose came out of the drum and sprayed oil everywhere took me the rest of the day to clean it up

i have more but will wait

    Unhappy 4 cyl torrie

Years ago I bought a little torrie 4 as a second car.
When I went to pick it up the owner told me it just needed a tune up and off I went.
After a slow drive home with the car running like crap I discovered what the problem was.
When the previous owner thought topping up the oil meant to fill the engine until there was oil up to the filler cap on the rocker cover.
I drained about 22 litres out and she ran like a dream.

A few months ago I had a Head-unit installed and also replaced the hole centre console fascia in my vy.

All of this was done at my cousins house, that afternoon around 6 I decided to head home. As I leave car starts smoothly and head unit works a treat! I get about 2 k's up the road from my cousins only to realise my blinkers wouldn't work?

I was like stuff this, I'm not driving for an hour and its getting dark without blinkers.
I get back to my cousins and we had no idea what was wrong, we just presumed we screwed something electrical up in regards to the head unit install, we checked fuses and everything. (I was panacking as I had just bought the car off my dad and he warned me not to puk it up).

So after about 3 hours of moping around I decide to remove the centre console just to check I didn't screw anything up only to notice I forgot to plug the hazard lights button back in. Without that button plugged in the blinkers circuit isn't complete.

So annoying, as I wasted so much time over such a stupid thing.

EDIT: Ahh, just remembered, Due to my cousins high brain cell count, I also scored a screw driver down my fuel tank about 2 weeks after this. He was trying to put fuel into my car as he borrowed it for the weekend.
