i did something dumb yesterday. trying to undo the sump plug without jacking the front of the ss up (yeah theres not much room... even though im as thin as anything), slipped off the nut, smacked my hand into something metal dunno what it was then smacked my head on the stabiliser bar. haha. whoops.
lol, smashing your head on the swaybar. Fun times ^^ I often use my swaybar for a footrest. I take off the radiator shroud, sit on the front of the car, and rest my feet in the engine bay on the swaybar. Tried to get up once, foot slipped off the swaybar, went face first into my airboxGood thing I didn't aim for the alternator ^^

when i was working helping out my work exsperience boss i was doing a service and i think it was on a hyundai or a daewoo some front wheel drive jap crap i accidently drained the trans fluid insted of the engine oil lol i felt like an idiot but lucky the fluid was pretty black
thats probly the only dumb thing iv done part from slipping while trying to undo nuts and bolts and hitting hands
when i had my old Statesman many years ago .( about 30 ) i decided to degrease the motor . After spraying the motor , i read the instructions on the can which said it works better on a warm motor . So seeing as the car had been sitting over night i decided to start it up . About 2 seconds later , instant fireball . but not too much damage though .

Home Panel Beating. Seen it happen many times people trying to get dints out and hit themselves in the head. Always a laugh when it happens to other, when it happens to you, you just wanna chuck that hammer across the yard.
I've had a few, most recent one was after changing over the rear bumper on my wagz, lined it up perfectly, did the bolts up then realised I forgot the washers on the inside two..
Another one was changing the water pump and forgetting to re-tighten the pulley bolts properly, made a pretty decent sound there !!
My all time classic though was working on my Pulsar and changing the fuel filter, I forgot to disconnect the fuel pump before I took the line out and we all know what happens to pressurised liquid once a hose is disconnected
If ignorance is bliss why aren't there more happy people around ?
My mate left one of those flood lights he was using for light (was nailed to a bit of wood) in the boot of his car and set the boot on fire LMAO
One thing i have done was replaced the drum brakes in my hq one tonner and forgot to put the wheel nuts back on one of the wheels, rolled the car down the driveway and wheel came off and smashed all the rear brake assembly. Cant say i will ever touch my wheel nuts again lol now i check and recheck and recheck again lol
Oh and once on my parents zl fairlane (i think that was the model) grabbed the wrong batt and stuck the terminals on the wrong way. $800 later with new computer and wiring it was running again.
And finally the worst i have done is in a HQ monaro which i only had for 3 days and i had found some that seem to lead to nothing and it was in the drivers side door so i cut the cables to clean it up. Finished installing the stereo worked a treat so went to start it to wash it before i went to take the new GF for dinner and wouldnt start. this was at about 11am. so checked spark - fine checked fuel and filter - fine. Checked the power cable i had used to install the stereo all fine so i decided to pull it out and start from the beginning. Still wouldnt start. this was about 1pm. Mum and dad left to go out for a bit and asked if i needed a hand as i was swearing and going off but nah its all good. Called RACQ to come out and check it and he hot wired the starter to see if it would turn over and it did. so went back thru with him what i had done and nothing all checked out. So he called his RACQ friend and he rocked up (was a awesome looking car so he wanted to help out considering i had dinner plans) and they spent 3hrs going over the car top to bottom and nothing. About 4:30 they bail and im stressing as i had now no stereo and a dirty car and had to get ready for dinner. Mum and dad get home at 6pm and dad goes so whats the prob so i tell him the story and he thinks for a bit. Then asked me what the switch on the ground was from and i told him it was the cable from the door. He goes and whats that for and i said well nothing. so he find the cable i clip and joins them and guess what car starts. I had tears of anger in my eyes and dad was in fitson the garage floor, and telling me to always start with the very first thing i did.
I get to dinner at 9pm in a dirty car with a half ass stereo install and wires all over the joint and she saw the funny side in it thank god.
So yeah we all have our moments lol

few months ago i was bleeding my brakes, had the car on jackstands and had my trolley jack pumping the other side up, the trolley jack started to push the car and the it slipped of the jack stands one side of the car was sitting on the rotors, had to get new rotors and some other suspension parts, i will never use crappy equipment again and especially because i was lying under the car 10 seconds earlier.
Some years ago i had an XA V-8 falcon, and you know the 2 front rails that come back under the cabin ? well i had to get under the car to tighten the exhaust, hmm i can squeeze under there to reach that so under i go and i just needed that extra bit so i squeezed in a bit more and pop my ribs sort of expanded behind the rail and i was stuck for about an hour till the oldies come home,i called out to dad "can you do me a fav and get out the jack and get this car off me",as you can guess he nearly had a heart attack

no i havnt, when it comes to doing anything mechanical i try my absolute hardest to do it right the first time with no stuff ups but mate that wouldve been a b!tch to clean up, iv left the oil pan under the car before and reversed to take it for a spin and its dragged the pan and split oil along my driveway but its a rental so im not to ****ed of.
no longer a hoon by association - the commodore is gone
did another dumb thing today! undoing the powersteering pump.. well when it finally come undone i copped a nice long graze up my arm (took a layer of skin off haha).. on the corner of the throttle body cover. haha. oh well. battle scars![]()
Heard from a panel beater mate that the washer hose and vacuum hose connections sit beside each other on a vr/s on the left hand side near the bonnet hinges and look very similar..he told me of the time when a fellowworker hooked them up the wrong way and had the washer bottle feeding straight into the engine vacuum source.....filled the engine up with water....they got to it before it caused decent damage and the intake manifold got a bit of a clean.

Installing the subwoofers and amp in the boot of our '57 Morris Minor (yes, really...) and was hiding the wiring by running it up the center of the car under the carpet. Decided to drill a hole in the firewall up high to mount a cable clamp to hold the wiring loom up out of sight. Drilling away while leaning under the dash, and suddenly had a thought pop into my head... "hmm...the battery is mounted behind here somewhere...". If you have ever seen under a Morris bonnet, the battery is mounted against the center of the firewall. Of course, I put a 5mm drill straight through the rear of a brand new heavy duty battery, and battery acid started dribbling through the hole onto the carpet. I shoved my finger over the hole (ouchy ouchy ouchy) while yelling at my son to hurry up and unbolt the battery and get it out of the car...![]()
I did something so dumb it's almost to embarasing to menting but oh well here u r...
I got intoxicated one night and desided we needed music, so i turned my vn on so we could play music from the can in the garage i though i had better start the car so it didn't go to low in power but to late, it had a dead battery and i couldn't find a jumper starter or a battery charger as i was trying to work out that i had that was powerful enough to turn it over... well dumb intoxicated me, thought a power adapter 240v in 12v DC out, well lets just say it's didn't work and now neither does my thermal fan...
Working on a 2 stroke engine in Year 11, easy way to check spark.... hold the spark plug lead. **** it hurt.
tried to start my wifes barina with the rocker cover off,
spend hour's with a steam clean and lots of degreser getting oil of absolutely everything.
and buying her a new car, got steam in something, and car never ever started again after that day.
i am the god of britany spears womanizer on just dance on the wii
lol yeh but the teachers at school are stupid enough to tell you thats the way to check for spark.....
not really related to motor cars..... but when i was in year 10 we made wooden CO2 dragsters.... now i blew up a CO2 canister along with the overhead projector at school while i was trying to warm it up to make my CO2 car go fatserfair to say that was very very very messy
lol Garth I bet you alot more stories to share![]()
