Lack of activity on JC???

Is it just me or not? That Just commodores isn't as active like it used to be??

I also have a feeling that some members moving on to the Just commodores car club forum??

It used to be a lot of posting especially in popular sections like the pub etc... But now it seems pretty quiet here in the past few weeks or longer.

ive noticed a drop, mainly in cool threads, im getting sick of answering about clusters and VT seats and VS dashes....

There used to be aswome thread bout real mods... hinterland was kool... not much new now.. bit boring

its coz its more fun at jcclub.net lol nah this is a top site foe tech info but apart from that its a alrounder, most people on here have their head screwed on much better that some other siteslol

I think when JC was down for a while and we lost those few months it had an effect and I havent seen it recover since.

I think when JC was down for a while and we lost those few months it had an effect and I havent seen it recover since.

Yeah thats when i noticed it, it hasnt really picked up since then. Theres heaps of people online, but its the usual few people posting.

I'll bite on this one, traffic is down by around 300 - 400meg per day from what it used to be.

With the server issue's a while back I think most people built a bridge by now, there isn't anything we can do about that and yes backups are still taken daily manually. When I look back February I think it would be fair to say there has really been ongoing issue's up until the last week with the server load being out of control which would have turned off a number of people and in all honesty I wouldn't blame them.

When I shifted jobs unfortunately I made the stupid decision of moving the site, yes it may have been a touch slower to what we have currently experience but lets face it who cares if it's a touch slower if it just plain works. I only spoke to my old boss the other week who is happy to host JC at let me say a fraction of the cost of what we are paying now. Why haven't we moved yet, downtime for the DNS updating again

With the load issue's and blocking of bots from the host end this has hit rankings in Google, Yahoo etc in a HUGE way which may also explain a few things, Pagerank dropping from 5 to 2 is almost unheard of, this I am very annoyed about and would have liked to have been consulted first before taking such drastic measures to control load.

Still on the upside JC is growing and given it's like a kid to me I want to see it keep on building.

yeah and just like kids to they go through growth spurts! the site will get back up to speed! also alot of people are probably working longer hours and weekends to save up for christmas and the holidays!

If you've acknowledged that there is a decrease in flow, and that, i would guess, a majority of posts would come in to the Pub, aswell as other sections. Would it not be better to re-instate the most visited sections near the top of the site?

Sure you need to give the sponsors space and all, but if people stop coming here, then the sponsors are going to lose out anyway?

So, you think it has nothing to do with the fact that when someone new makes a post or thread, all the veterans can't help but burn them for their choice in english, their lack of general knowledge or the fact that they are not mechanically minded...expecially the fact that they like V6's.....etc.

I have been continually observing newish people getting smashed by a gang of J C's members for one silly comment, we are all human and have to start somewhere, and you all make it seem like J C's is not the place to start, so they move on......

I have personally recomended this site to several friends from all age groups, and they continually tell me how it is full of know it alls who just want to big note as soon as they read a comment they can pick on.......

Now thats my 2 cents, and yeh I'm on here bugger all these days, just for that reason!! I have better things to read and sites to visit, when Keyboard worriers go at it in almost every thread.......

Yes i know that, and i didn't think that what people were saying was too harsh to start with but it did go on for longer than was needed and got worse as it went on. This was just as and example because a few people were obviously annoyed by what was said in the thread.

that is a fairly soft example, it all depends on what mood people are in I think, Like the mood Ive been in lately, sick of people bagging others out for very small reasons, Sure, if someone claims they have bigger than realistic power etc, it is fair to let them know they are playing with themselves, Just a suggestion as to why the site is getting more and more quite by the day.... It's half the reason i'm not on here anymore, how easy it would be to meet up with people and sort their typing fingers out.... Its not what its about, and if I begin to feel that way I shouldn't be on here, thats why I'm not.....

At the same time that we need new people, we still need site standards as well. Theres no point having an extra 400 posts a day if they're made by people that cant spell, or have no knowledge of grammar so that we can't actually read or understand what they are saying. Also, having an extra 400 threads a day that are exact copies of threads a week ago because new people are too lazy to search isn't going to help either.

All thats going to do is drive away more helpful and longterm members of the forum which personally I would rather have around than some new members with little to no knowledge that will make a few threads for a month then not come back to the site.

Also, we all have our opinions and on an open forum opinions are bound to clash, especially in regards to V6's vs V8's etc. on this site.
