2007 Election/Anything Political Debating Thread
Well, we lost. The people voted for a "popular school kid rather than experience".
I personally think we are heading for some bad times. I hope i am proven wrong. I highly doubt it though. I also think quite a few people will lose their jobs over this result while employers still have the chance to get rid of certain people.

I personally wanted that if Libs lost. It saves a lot of time and makes it easier for Mr Howard to walk away. He IS the greatest PM this country has ever had.

I think johnny has to take some of the credit for the "interest rates about to go boom"!!
Congrats to Mr Rudd and the ALP! And to all those that won their seats.

I also kind of agree with Minux. Could you imagine if Liberals lost but Howard retained his seat. You just couldn't picture Howard as an opposition back bencher. It would be an insult. I voted Liberal today simply based on the fact that NSW state Labor has screwed up this great state. If Labor can't get it right at a state level, how much better can they do at a federal level. On the topic of interest rates, they are bound to keep going up no matter which political party is in power. Economic times are good, people have more disposable income and therefore spend it. The cost of food and petrol has sky rocketed and you can't do without those two. The more money changes hands the more inflation goes up and therefore rates rise to stop people spending. I'm sure people don't want an economics lesson. Sorry. Finally I just saw Rudds speech and why does every sentence have to be a god damn cliche'! Makes me want to jump through the TV and deck him. It's almost like he just keeps saying what he thinks people want to hear. Makes me wonder if he believes it himself. Well guess what? Now he's in he better deliver what he promises or he'll be out of a job himself in three years time.

It is why people keep saying he is the Kath and Kim leader. I doubt 90% of the Labor voters actually read their policies through...I also think he won't be the only one out of a Job in 3 years...i'd say a lot of their voters will be to. I can name 62 of them that won't have a job come Friday.
Can anyone confirm how the Senate is looking? What will really screw this country is if Greens hold balance of power.
