do we have an engineering type people here?
I need to design a small trolley jack, either Pneumatic and Hydraulic. I've got a 2d drawing of how i would like it (it's pretty lame lol), but am unsure of how to do the hydraulic/pneumatic part and how, if it was to be a scissor type lift, to draw it!!
any help appreciated.

I use AutoCAD every day, not in a mechanical aspect but can draw mechanical as such. I'm sure I can knock up something with the appropriate details
I'll see what i can knock up tonight, but first we need dimensions.
and what do you want just, front, top, side and iso? or just 3d?

Sweet thanks.
Sorry bout that, i originally had all the info on the illustration, but took it off when i jpeged it.
600mm long, and as long as the centre section of the top plate is atleast 75mm wide, i'm not fussed on the width of it. and it needs to be able to hold up to 150kg, that would probably be the maximum.
basically i need to be able to take it somewhere and get it made up (if the boss lets me), so probably as many view as possible, if its not too much trouble.
Cheers guys.

Yours calais. Let me know if further assistance required
Na just saying I'll leave it to Calais 304, as it sounds like he's geared up for it, and keen to knock up something for you tonight. It sounds like you want more or less shop drawings of an assembly and componentry. could be a fair sized job....
yea i got sfa to do tonight this will make the night interesting (sad i know) and just got ACAD2008 so this will be a nice way to test it all out.
WOW shop drawings just thought you wanted a pretty picture in CAD, current work load is a biartch, i'll just knock the basics up for ya, ie. everything bar the piston/jack assembly (thats for an engineer to work out material/loads/force all that mumbo jumbo if your designing from scratch)![]()
just having a look over the drawing you provided though, i would think it would be easier and cheaper for you to pick up a hydrolic trolley jack, and weld your plate to that, after all it's only for 150kg....not a real huge load and they can raise up to 500mm (pretty sure) if you get a 2500kg one.
anyway probably should of read your first post a bit better lol, thats a big job your seekin....actually it wouldn't hurt to pop into an engineering joint and hittin them with your idea and see what options they might have for you....
anyway i'll get as much done tongiht as i can and see what i can come up with(gotta go find details of jacks) check back in 24 hours

Thanks dude, don't spend too much time on it, if it's going to be biarch of a job.
I did think about getting a trolley jack and welding a plate to it. might have a look at one and see if i can modify it.
the only problem with a trolley jack is that it sits fairly high, which means i'll still have to lift a roll of material onto it, and also maneuverability; it wouldn't be as stable to move around the factory. it would be preferable to jack it from the side as well, as moving through narrow spaces means the material needs to be able to run length ways, if that makes sense.
