My (parked) car was hit... no details left!
Well I woke up this morning and went out to my car to find that it had been reversed into! Damage is not extensive or anything, just a cracked front bumper with chipped paint, and a bent and scratched number plate... but my issue is that the bastard just took off without leaving any details.
A new bumper isn't gonna cost me big bucks or anything, but it is going to cost something, plus waste my time and effort getting it fixed... I think the decent thing to do would be to leave a note with contact/insurance details, or at least a F-ing sorry! I know that's what I'd do... I'm sure most here would too! Right?
Well we know who was parked in front of me all day yesterday and the maroon paint left on my bumper matches the colour of that car so hopefully when/if they return we can sort something out.
Anyway I just thought I'd have a rant because it's been s***ting me all day... and while I'm at it, would it be worth upgrading to a different bumper (ie; SS, Clubby etc?) instead of just replacing with standard one, or will it look stupid without having the rest of the body kit?

If your considering getting a different bumper ie SS/Clubby you may as well get the rest otherwise it looks wanky.

Looks like a car with a towbar. They may not have realised that they had hit you.

When i had my suzuki some bogan f*ck reversed into it in the parabanks car park at sallllsbrryyy (i dont live there but i worked there), and totalled the entire back end. Needless to say he didnt leave his details.
It has been well worth my $12/week to be comprehensively insured.

scum is what id say.
It happened to my dads VX last week. He reverse parked between 2 cars, goes in does shopping and what not... comes out drives off.... goes to servo to fill up.. a BIG 1foot gash right next to the fuel tank from a silver Holden Rodeo. Which my dad parked next too at the shopping centre.
****ing scum bags.

It seems like this sort of thing is not uncommon at all... everyone I tell about it has a story about either their own car or someone they know that has had the same thing happen. That doesn't make it any better though!
My VK was reversed into by a neighbour when I was living in Oakleigh but he did the decent thing, came over to tell me what he had just done and gave me all the details I needed to have it fixed through his insurance. If only more people were like him. Oh well, I'm sure karma will get them.
Still pretty sure I know which car it was that did this but unfortunately they have not returned yet, and they probably wont so I'll be forking out the money to have this repaired. So back to the replacement bumper topic, I don't think I'd go a Clubby one, it's a bit too much on a stock Exec lol. SS bumper would be alright I'm thinking, subtle change and has the bezzles for fog lights, which I'd like to install. Depends on cost though, although my uncle is helping there though, he's a panel beater and won't charge me any more than what he pays for parts.

Well the car that I suspected did the damage returned and I bumped into it's owner today. I approached him and asked him about it, he seemed very genuine and said if it was him he would have left a note for sure. I have to take his word for it because there is no way to prove it one way or the other, and he did seem like a genuinely nice guy.

The first thing you should do after noticing your car has been hit is check with the nearest police station to see if the other person has reported the accident.
Sometime people often think that if you hit a car and no one is around you need to leave some sort of note - not the case.
If the owner or person representing the owner isn't around (after making a reasonable effort to seek them out) you're meant to, if no member of the police force is present, report the accident to the nearest police station.
The first thing I do when I get someone telling me about having their parked car hit is check out computerised accident system to see if the other person has done the right thing. That way we can but two and two together.

Sounds wanky but there have been a couple of times i've been stuck with a park next to a car(s) that look rough or dodgy and tapped the rego into my phone before i go into the shop.
Never been hit and it'll be the time i don't bother to record that i get hit! Doesn't take any time and is an easy safeguard i reckon.
