can someone tell me if the calculator on the australia post website for parcels is to be written in inches or cm's for the dimensions? at first it says cm's then it says cm's optional on the next page when i type in my dimensions. i just want to know if i can send a rim.
CM! So a 2 metre parcel you would type in 200.
The postage costs are calculated on weight. The only reason you put the size of the parcel in is to make sure it is under the size limit.
do you rekon i could post a 17x8 inch rim, it weighs 9.5kg
yes you can anything up to 20kg australia wide.
NAAB technically thats not correct if it a large box they'll calculate on cubic weight. I posted a VY V6 sump to hispeedvp weighed 6kg but i had to pay for 14kg of cubic weight due to it size
i just measured the rim and it is 47.5cm x 47.5cm x 21cm and is 9.5kg, it can be posted, but do i have to package it or can i just slap an address on it and post it? i don't see how an unwrapped item like that would be a problem.
only problem i can see is that someone might steal it. I've had stuff go missing in the post before and it was registered
i will pay for insurance it about $2 for $100< insurance
Inches have not been used for years in Australia and yes put it in a box.![]()
I would be wrapping it in bubble wrap and put it in a box. Otherwise it may get scratches or damaged. And definately take out postage insurance.

but if i put it in a box it might go over the size limit it just scrapes in by about 1-2 cm, dunno if i will have to post them yet anyway they're on ebay, and the rims aren't immaculate, ones dented and cracked the other is ok.
might be better sending via bus frieght i sent some v8 headsa that were too heavy and they're cost are reasonable
