You went to Elwood beach on a warm Saturday night with bald tyres, and you're surprised the cops got you?

I've had it happen to me before at a supermarket. Expect the fine/slip in the mail.

WTF? never heard of it happening, and dont they normally stick them inside the car? Check with your local RTA and make sure its legit caus they normally give you a lovely fine along with it.

I didn't get a fine, but I got the sticker on the outside, and the slip of infractions arrived in the mail.

are the tyres below minimum? if so, buy new ones, take it to cop shop and get it cleared. if theyre not below minimum, go straight to cop shop, get it cleared. then forget about it.

i doubt theyre going to send out a fine for a minor defect for tyres, but you never know, and you could find out when you go get it cleared

why shouldnt they be allowed to? if you're in a car park, you're on public property and had to drive an unroadworthy car to get there.

stop whinging about it and go get it cleared. if you're still cut up about it, goto the police station and make a complaint.

Two different sized tyres on the front and rear are illegal.

Eh? As in, one size on fronts, and one size on rears? What's wrong with that?

Yeah - there's nothing wrong with mismatched tyres, so long as the tyre carcass construction matches.

edit: you don't even need to have the same tread accross axles.

The ADR's state that the same carcass construction has to be fitted on the same axle, but the tyre placard tells you what size tyres can be fitted. Unless it states a different size for front and rear, then the same size has to be fitted all round.

but you can still go within the inch width rule and overall rolling diameter from the tyre placard can you not? this would allow different size tyres on each end

Thats BS mate..... I'd be so ****ed off, but if your tyres actually rnt bald i'd go complain.
And i thought it was fine to have skinnier tyres on the front, as long as the left and rights are the same on front and rear.... so same pairs....

Haha and here we thought everytime coppers rocked up we would just all lock the cars and flock to the nearest open building and be safe. Guess that proves us wrong.

On top of that...done for having 2 different sized tyres? Whats up with all the people with stockies on the rear and 19s up front?

Morton, it is illegal to have 2 different tread patterns on the front! Its advised that you have 2 same tread patterns on the rear but its not illegal to have 2 different treads on the rear.
