My own mother is doing one of these accredited computer basics courses with a voucher through centerlink. She's 60 and hasn't a clue about computers (doesn't have much of a clue about anything really) and she's doing stuff on excel spreadsheets, word processing, and recently started MYOB software in the class. Funny thing is she has never used a computer in her life, doesn't own one, still can't work out how to open documents and she thinks she's going to get hired as a secretary when she's done the course? Not likely. I wonder what most employers think of these certificates from training courses. I wouldn't hire any secretary unless they had previous experience and work references to show.

Looks good but I'm not eligible. I'm spewin, would have been an easy way to get a free laptop.
To meet the entry requirements you must:
* be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
* be aged 25 years or over
* not hold a year 12 or equivalent qualification
* Do not hold a Certificate II qualification or higher
I'm 23
I completed year 12
Cert III in Electrotechnology
I'd jump into one of those courses in a heartbeat, but I'm one of those people who can't sit in a stuffy office for 5 minutes, let alone a whole day
