Default Pizza Delivery with Vt..worth it?

Hey everyone a friend asked me if i wanted to be a delivery driver for a pizza shop, hey i thought it sounds kind of fun!

    Anyway the rates are;
    $7 an hour standard.
plus $3 per delivery and you keep tips.

Now i would love to do this but i drive a 1997 VT 3.8 on petrol.

Is it even worth considering this job with my VT on petrol??

    Thoughts, opinions, advice please

Its not worth it even if your car is on Gas. 7 dollars an hour is absolutley nothing and factor in the wear and tear your car will sustain during your time having the job.

****! $19 an hour!?! Thats crazy
I am at kmart at the moment and i hate it. Really not my type of job, and at about $12 an hour its really not my cup of tea.

Hmmm, i dont really know any other jobs that would be decent other then this one, apparently it equates to about $17 an hour roughly speaking inc deliveries.

So you guys think i should knock it back??
I do not think i will be buying another car any time soon..

Im gonna go against the grain here and say that its not too bad.
I did deliveries for 3 years (only finished up a few months back and am still a reserve driver but im usually busy when he needs me) I was on $9 hour plus $2 per deliveries and tips and on a quiet night for bout 3 hours I would get bout $50 for three hours work.
Busy night anywhere from $60 - $100 depending on how busy and tips.
I drove my VK then my VS and for a short stint my VZ and fuel was never a huge issue.
Granted a little more expensive now petrol wont cost more than $15 a night at the most (thats on the busiest nights).
In fact the funny thing was at one point every driver had a commodore so it cant be too bad.
Having said that, these are my experiences and im sure if you want more cash there is more jobs to be found that will pay more.

    hmmm.
I guess if you reserve the odd $20 for petrol and just work it out on that.
Maybe i should do a trial, fill my car up to the top. then fill it up once i finish??

See how much ive lost aye?

Possibly its difficult to come up with a yes/no answer unless we know more about the $3 delivery conditions. How many will you expect to make in one evening and how far do they expect you to drive to deliver just one.

If it were me doing the paying, Id pay a good basic hour salary + reimbursement at a flat rate per km.......similar to what one pays when claiming costs for vehicles in obtaining income(50 to 60 cents/km), it would need to be more though as obtaining insurance and possibly commercial registration is required. That may mean that the delivery person may try and not take the most direct route to the deliveries or over claim for km travelled, however, something the person in charge of the deliveries can monitor this since they do have the addresses of where the pizzas are going.

Crap job, crap wages, you rarely get tips, and the pizza stinks your car out.

One of the crappiest jobs ever. Don't know why you considered it. When i assistant managed a pizza hut store, we employed the dropkicks with 4 cyl cars for delivery drivers, and that was back in 01, and even then they all ended up quitting because the crap wage wouldn't cover the petrol. And we paid more than $7 an hour.

If you haven't got a job, get a real job.

Man get a warehouse job picking and packing. I am a supervisor in a warehouse and the boys working for us are getting $19 an hour. Not bad for warehouse crap.

There are heaps of night time warehouse jobs available too. Pays better, your car won't smell, and you won't clock up heaps of K's from delivering people their dinner or lunch. Stuff that.

7 bucks an hour is rubbish. How can you save on that rate?? If you want cash get a cleaning job, I get paid $19.50 and hour and 1 1/2 times more on weekends. It isn't that hard once you're used to it. I take my ipod and listen to music while cleaning office blocks.

i work around the clock, i jst finished a 72 hour shift then. basically u are then 'parent' for the children, cooking, cleaning, getting them to school, dealing with behaviour (all the kids are very challenging with behaviour) so yeh basically im a dad while im there. i have senior first aid, manditory notification, and about 300 hours of training that includes caring for infants and children with disabilities.

it is a good job but VERY demanding as the children u care for are extremely neglected/abused. i have had knives held to my throat and been threated by death countless times. its a very stressful job. im only 18 years old and i find it hard sometimes caring for 16 year old kids. the pay rate is average only $20 per hours but its just that i can do a bunch of hours in a week

i did it and wouldn't do it again, i had a ****box and economy wise it was good but with the extra servicing and maintence you have to do due to the extra k's you do per night ( i averaged 200k's for a 4 hour shift and working 3-5 nights a week ) you really don't make that much ( $12 p/h or $3 per delivery whichever was higher )
    We got rep back, yaaay!

Lol thats wot most people say, i went into the job thinking oh wicked i can clear $1500 a week and jst do wot i want. but after a while u make connections with the kids and they become part of your life. everytime iv been threatened it not been because of something iv done or said its just that these children have had the worst life ever and are jst venting their anger. most of them breakdown into tears after they threaten u. its a great job but i guess uv got to want to do it
