Found this definitian of Commodore, like the "Rattletec" bit too
1. commodore
A large, prehistoric family sedan, sold in Australia by Holden motor company.
As technologically advanced as fossilized wood, they are a very user friendly car for the simple minded, thus, common in Australia. Equipped with a slow, noisy, automatic transmission and either a "rattletec" 3.8L v6 designed in 1988 or an even older 5L pushrod v8, the pitiful power per litre figure is reflected by its inherant lack of fuel economy or reliability.
Although it handles like a bag of mollasses, this barge is worshipped by bogans for is ability to allow even physically and/or mentally disabled drivers to do burnouts. Usually performance mods consist of 17 inch chromies, altezza taillights and 2 subwoofers. The younger owners usually purchase the cars due to a lack of intelligence, funds or pride. Thus, the car earned the nickname "conformadore".
Holdens "performance" line, "HSV", fail to realise that slapping a bodykit on a family commuter does not make it a sportscar.
Claimed to be an iconic Australian car, engines and drivetrains are sourced from american company GM.
WOW! a one handed burnout? must be a commodore.
That convoy of commodores is driven by 18yo virgins.
The commodore understeered into a tree at 20km/h, lucky it wasnt a good car.
That description is suited better at the Fords especially the falcons..
IMO that was a complete waste of time reading that and his views are very inaccurate. Whoever wrote that is a fkn moron, no doubt a ford wanker.
But whatever helps him sleep at night eh...

Screw the icecream...
Who wants a moustache ride?
My wifes gas v6 commodore vs Family in laws Ford straight six (again on gas), mine was more efficient ($ per kms) than it.... so ford has more so an "inherant lack of fuel economy"
*yawns*
I'm guessing that the person who posted that on the net, is NOT an Aussie, and probably drives a suzuki swift with frangipanni stickers on it male OR female.
I would say more, but it's not interesting enough to care about.

2 points i'll throw in
1) our beloved six pot screamer was actually designed in 1953 and redesigned as the years progressed
and 2) even this idiots import has a crap power/litre figure unless it's factory turbo/SC, in which case, it's in a different league and can not be judged in the same area. so balls to him/her
When Stevie wonder drives, He drives a Holden, You don't need to see to be able to see class.
I think that was wrote one night by pencil dick teen who got the ****s cause the neighbours 500,000km VN beat dads new BF.
Memo to the lovers of an I6, Stick some good Km's on any engine and it will shake rattle and roll like JOK all night long.
P.S my VP got better fuel econemy over my brothers BA Fairmont.

Six or more cylinders in line......hardly something not done before in the development of the motor car, BMW have been doing it better for quite a while.
The engine was designed in Aus with what startling innovations?(dont know).....apart from being a lot smaller than anything made in the US at the time?
The buick engine now in the comm is the continued development of the grey motor as done by "our" engineers?
I think you guys need to lighten up and move on. Take it for what it is. Now I'm off to comb my mullet....
I actually laughed at the post, whoever originally wrote it is just mad because I ran over his cat....in my commodore....
Ah, got to love the school holidays. Seems the same group of Ford people get angry that our Holden is such a better car. They seem to always list the same things that are wrong or identifiable with the Falcon.
Anyways, this is the most pointless thread ever.
