Newlyweds caught street racing in Sydney.
A couple of newlyweds had their car seized on the way home from church following a street racing incident in western Sydney, police say.
Police allege a black Holden Caprice hire car reached speeds of up to 130km/h on the Great Western Highway in St Marys about 9pm (AEDT) Saturday while racing a white Holden Commodore.
The cars were racing in a 60km/h zone, police said.
Both vehicles were confiscated after being pulled over.
A 42-year-old Bankstown man, who was driving the hire car, and a 17-year-old Erskine Park male youth, who was behind the wheel of the white Commodore, have been charged with taking part in a race between vehicles, driving in a dangerous manner and exceeding the speed limit by over 45km/h.
Police Commissioner Andrew Scipione said street racing wouldn't be tolerated - no matter who was in the car.
"I understand ... the occupants of one of the vehicles seized was in fact a married couple," Mr Scipione told reporters in Sydney.
"It was a hire car ... I think that they may have been coming from the church.
"(But) whether you street race as a newlywed or whether you street race as a young P-plater it doesn't make any difference.
"Road racing will not be tolerated."
Both drivers are expected to appear before Penrith Local Court on January 21.

Here is an updated report from news.com.au
JOHN and Laina Tauranga's wedding day went off without a hitch - until their limo driver was pulled over for street racing, leaving them stranded on the side of the road.
The hired Holden Statesman they were travelling in was confiscated by police last night, along with the Holden Commodore of a P- plater the driver had been racing on the Great Western Highway at Kingswood at about 9pm.
Laina's mother, Bernadine McCully, said the happy couple had been kissing in the back of the car on their way home and got the shock of their lives when they heard a police siren.
"Laina reckons she nearly choked on his tongue when she realised they were being pulled over by the police,'' Mrs McCully said.
"She said they realised they were going fast, but they didn't realise the driver was racing the guy next to him.
"It's something they won't forget for some time, that's for sure.
"Luckily, we were driving past and gave them a lift. I couldn't believe it when I saw them standing there.''
The P-plater had three passengers in his car.

If you watch Ten News at 5 it shows the car which was an F6 from what i can tell. Also advertises the hire company on the bonnet. Guess they won't be getting much more service lol.

Hahahahaha jesus christ! It's just lucky they weren't killed or no one was hit by their car on their wedding day.

Bwahahahaha i just saw it on 9 news. I noticed that they were driving an FPV of some sort. Looked quite nice actually. They don't use any FPV's for copper cars in VIC do they????? I'd love to see the coppers in VIC chase down an idiot in one of those.

It's times like this I think that both cars should be crushed...regardless of if one is a company car or not...It might teach the company not to hire guys that are going to risk the lives of anyone, in particular a newlywed couple.
Drivers for companies such as that have a duty of care...of which the driver was in direct breach of and should be charged accordingly and have no job to return to.
Not only did he set a bad example for the company, he put many lives at risk with his stupidity and for that he deserves a swift kick up the ass.
Throw the bloody book at both of them!
VP FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!!I'm thinking if the limo driver can race without the couple in the back stopping the pashing it musta been the biggest steamer going. The couple must have weighed over 100kgs each:P. ps I beat a FPV Typhoon 2 out of 2 at the drags on Friday night so VP for the win against the cops too
