look at this place: GameDude Computers OnLine Store there in QLD but they're really good, like you i build my systems. cus i know what parts are inside it. plus its cheaper.

Im pretty sure you can buy over the net. I've seen this exact laptop in another store for $2100 so theres a bit of saving there.

Radio Rentals clearance warehouse. Its where the ex-rentals go. Ive bought desktops & stuff there as have quite a few people I know. You need to check the specs & have some knowledge but you can get some okay stuff there at okay prices.

yeah mate, anything computer related i go to gamedude. no matter how small. everything im my comp is bought there, right down to cables.

gamedude are cheaper then computeralliance. only by like $5-$10, but when you buying multiple things it all adds up.

i've been lookin at em for a while and thats the best one i've found at the price. plus asus is a great brand. theres may features that you dont get in other laptops for the price. 1gig wlan, Litescribe etc.

depends on what you need it for? business, study or pleasure?
Either way if you hold out until about March and contact a couple of government schools in your area you'll find teachers turning over to the newer model.
The old ones are reformatted and sold off if a buyer can be found. Last turnover was about $600 so i imagine the will only be a fraction more.
Without knowing what you need it for they are a safe buy. They will do everything you need for business or study but probably not if you wanna waste your time using it for hardcore gaming.

might struggle to get that out of an ex-teacher machine. Fine for 'studdy' though.

i got myne when vista was released cause i was stupidly eager to get it, i suppose i had high expectations after the release of xp was awesome but i was wrong.

anyway yeah its an acer aspire 5610 wide screen centrino duo, 1.3mp swivel web cam, 100gb hdd, 1gb ram, dvd burner vista home premium etc.

i think ive seen the newwer version of this laptop with the same specs but a standalone nvidia video card for about $1600 ive just got a built in intel card no good for gaming but handles all other tasks. i got myne from office works we just paid that out

few months later we upgraded my missus's laptop to a toshiba satelite a200,
that was about $1900 but it has 2gb ddr, standalone nvidia geforce, 160gb hdd, centrino duo processor, fingerprint reader, harman kardon speakers (they sound awesome unlike your ussual laptop speakers you can really crank these) inbuilt 1/3mp webcam, bluetooth, dvd burner, widescreen, windows vista home premium.

one downer is that it dosent have a scroll button on the scratch pad something i couldent live without, we got it from the good guys half on interest free half cash.

just be carefull if you get interest free with purchases over a grand your forced to make monthly payments and if you take it past the interest free period its like insanly high.

oh and never flexirent, when i was a computer tech i did a bit of sales and one quiet day we worked out youd be better off just usin your standard visa/mastercard card swipe that and pay it off rather than flexirent, as the interest rate is very high and you never end up owning the laptop anyway unless you want to pay a high baloon payment which is way more than the laptop will be worth when it comes time to finish up.
