hi, is there a way to convert a existing wired network card into a wireless card because i want to do wireless networking but cant afford a wireless card for the laptop and desktop computer yet, so im wondering what i can do to convert a existing pci network card into a wireless card and convert a network socket into a wireless card.

also can someone please provide a circuit diagram of a wireless network card so i can build a usb wireless card to plug into my laptop because mine doesnt have one and i want wireless networking.

I think that you are asking the impossible, because there is no such thing.

your best bet, would be to get some cheap wireless PCI Cards
check here staticICE :: wireless + pci : Australia's comprehensive computer hardware and gadget price comparison search engine

Opalia Computers - Cheap computers, parts, accessories, MP3 MP4 player. Easy payment, fast delivery.

staticICE :: wireless + pcmcia : Australia's comprehensive computer hardware and gadget price comparison search engine

You should be able to pick up some cheap wireless cards for around $15-25 each.

    Good luck

I picked up my new neatgear wireless pci card for $39 at officeworks. You can get laptop ones for around the same as well. Netgear are a qaulity product but even cheapo will do the job.

Shonky12, with all the computing questions you have been asking lately I really think that you should consider joining a computer forum and post your questions up there because this is a commodore forum. Ill even PM you the address of a good one if you would like.

you can use a wired network card as a wireless card, kinda. used to do it myself. it involved plugging some small wireless bridge kinda thing into the ethernet port. probably cheaper just to get a wireless card

Just put in a coathanger. It fixed my car aerial. Surely it would work for a wireless network?

Join a computer forum for god's sake!

You have been given a link before - Whirlpool Broadband Forums

If you post another off commodore topic again you will risk having it closed straight away. While people on here are helpful and have a wide knowledge of these things, this isn't really the place to come to for each and every single question you have on the subject. Move on!

You really need to make your post easier to read. Wireless cards are not expensive but you might need a wireless router to have a proper wireless network.
