I noticed a few people asking about companies, and a few people use JC to trade, just wondering has anyone ever been ripped off when buying stuff or screwed around when selling stuff over the net?
I ALWAYS buy stuff over the net and have never had any problems at all, a mate of mine has just spent $3500 on baby stuff and the person who she has paid is gone.... she has been ripped off hugely! HOWEVER the only drama I have ever had, I had someone after kids clothes on freecycle preaching how poor she was etc and I went through my boys drawers and gave her about 6 bags of clothes, about 2 weeks later found the clothing on ebay. She lives about 20 minutes from me and lets say she got what she deserved.
yea i dont like to deal with people unless i can speak to them over the phone or actualy meet them in person..i havnt been ripped off but.i just dont like paying for things unless ive see the producty in person.. i just dont like internet trading lol....but thats my opinion

Perhaps LOL Lets say she will NEVER rip anyone off over the net again![]()
i've only been stuff around on the net by Jetstar.
Ive only been ripped off once, my first ever purchase from Ebay was a mobile phone, was fairly new priced at about 500-600 new. I paid i think it was close to 400 which i was told was pretty resonable for ebay. Guy ****ed off never to be seen again. I got most of my money back through ebay but still wasnt a good first impression. Now i tend to deal with more local items so i can pay COD.
I usually pay COD on ebay, so I can see the item before I pay for it.. I REALLY cbf getting ripped off :/

Im a regular ebay buyer/seller, have my own ebay store. I have only ever been ripped off once as a seller never as a buyer. The buyer paid by paypal and then did a fraudulent chargeback claim saying she did not authorise the transaction. I paid a $15 fee and paypal took my side and disputed this with her credit card company and about 3 months later the ase was settled in my favour. So all in all I have had good experiences buying/selling online I've had hundreds of transactions through ebay, oztion, dealsdirect, oo, soldsmart, wotif they are just the place i can think of now theres probably more lol
ooohhh we've been done a few times. i bought an LSD off a member of SC forum adn a year later it still hasn't turned up. he fed me copious amounts of sh17 about getting confirmation of my collecting it and has disappeared. bought some injectors off ebay adn they never turned up, but the seller was kind enough to refund without hassle. the still haven't turned up.
my gf sells stuff online and was taken by a nigerian scam using stolen credit cards to teh tune of 28k, thankfully she kept teh emails from teh buyer and the card's owners said if we paid the money back tehy wouldn't press charges.
year before last someone hacked her ebay account, listed something for sale and was paid through paypal and never sent the gear, this woman called me at work (my number wasn't listed as a contact, and the account was opened in my gf's name. the hack was to change the details) anyhoo, this woman called me at work calling me a thief and a scammer etc, but in the end just filed a dispute and got her money back. no money has ever been in my paypal account. remember that centrelink thing last year with staff using contact details for personal use? well I like to think that i helped speed that up.
but the worst is this one. someone has used my sister's ebay account, sold something to some Arab (no racism here, the guy's from saudi arabia) for 10k and listed the contact names as my sister and gf, they hate eachother and would never work together. this one's still in the hands of the police.
but other than these, we have both bought heaps of stuff online and more often than not have no hassles at all, even buying from UK and brazil without issues
oo are awesome, fantastic site, probably the best of the online 'bargain' shops I have used. I bought perfume and toys just before christmas paid on Sunday night, items where at my door on Tuesday morning in perfect condition. Its also worth while to wait until they have a free shipping offer they seem to do this once a month or 2 and its usually only if you use paypal to pay.
On eBay I've never really been stuffed around. I bought a dodgy tacho but the guy gave me a refund (incl postage) and let me keep the tacho. Also I thought I was getting ripped off when my LSD didn't rock up, but turns out it was just coz of xmas and wat would take 3-4 days to send took 2-3 weeks, it eventually turned up.
At the moment I'm waiting for another tacho to rock up. Didn't get it off ebay, but off a guy who has his own business. A member on here gave me a link to his site, and I gave him money for the tacho. He said it might take a week coz his next batch are at customs at the moment. Well 2 months later and he's stop answering my emails and doesn't return my calls. It's SS Auto Imports by the way....and hopefully he see's this and gets back to me.

I've had a couple of stuff arounds on ebay, mainly people taking forever to send the goods and really poor communication. The best thing a seller can do is to keep the buyer informed along the way and if possible to check back to see if the goods have been received to serve as a reminder for feedback.
I had a phone for sale once, someone hit buy it now and wanted it sent to Nigeria with a western union transfer for payment. Ebay sussed that one out straight away and cancelled the buyers account.
Another time I woke up one morning to discover about 50 listings processed under my account all for the same item. Appears I had been hacked and they were all canceled pretty much straight away and my account was locked up until I could prove it was me.
I have a psychological limit of around $100 on ebay. I can stand to lose that much on a rip off, anything more than that I would rather COD and deal with the seller in person.
im being stuffed around as we speak... i purchased a grille on the 18th of December 2007, and i payed for it on the 20th... it is coming from QLD... i msgd the guy, and told him i had transfered the cashola for it etc.. no response... so i gave him till the 2nd of January.. xmas holidays etc.. i understand..... Msgd him and askd if he was just guna run off with my cash and not send it... no reply til 8th then he says "oh im sorry, i been busy and i told my sister to send it, and she hadnt done it" I am very ****ed off about it... i want my grille god dam it.
It better come in the next few days, or ill send some more abuse to him
dont worry, il start a ride thread soon.
Never been ripped off, but back in 2005 when I was back up in Rocky, I bought some laptop parts from a seller in Sydney. Paid the very next day. Took *TWO MONTHS* for him to deliver the goods, and he didn't want to talk over email.
Needless to say, I'd never recommend that seller, and I've heard reports from others that have had similar experiences with that seller.

Something like that happened to me once. This guy and his girfriend had two young daughters and I felt sorry for the children being in a crap situation so to brighten them up and give them a bit of a gift, I gave them a Nintendo with about 8-9 games. I think they ended up selling it to Cash Converters or something. Pretty sad. I hate seeing young babies and anyone say under 18 being exposed to awful living circumstances and things and I always want to help them.
As for shopping online, I have never been screwed with ebay but I made a purchase at a dodgy online shop and they processed the card and never had the item in stock. The page said they had like 20 or something in stock. I got an email saying crap how it wasn't in stock. Over a week I demanded my money be reversed back on the card but the jerk just sat on his hands making me get down right mad. In the end I thought screw it, I went to the bank and lodged a un-authorised transaction form and the bank took care of it. The jerks would have been also charged a bank fee because of them being involved in the recovery.
I think ebay is an awesome way to go shopping. You can find things so fast within a few seconds and much of it is a lot cheaper than the shops made of brick. I usually prefer to buy stuff using paypal not only because I have protection from stealing but also because the payment goes through instantly in most cases. Hong Kong is a popular BIG shop for me. Lots of goodies there!!!!!!!
