Unhappy your thoughts on summernats security

as title says i'm after your thoughts on the heavy handed tactics of summernats security,i was crusing around the cruise route & dune a couple of cherpies & the next thing i know 2 big tongan security guards stoped me & 1 of them threatened to smack my head in if i dune it again(i said are you serious man)then a VL calais turbo done a little smoke show no more than 2 metres & the 2 security guards that were having a go at me walked up to the VL driver & 1 of them full on smacked him in the face,& i herd of a few of these incedents has anyone else had this happen to them or got a similar story,cheers-vtgtsblownstroker.

lol good on em, it worked didn't it.

probably just really die hard fans of the nats and are sick of seeing people stuff it up because they want to show their toughness by ripping a skid...

    theres my thoughts.

would have loved to see the vl guy ripping his skid thinking he's top shiz then getting belted by a big islander...lol the image in my head is pure gold lol.

I'm in the same boat, when did they make it so you can't do burnouts everywhere?

Or is it something that has always been there - but only being enforced this year?

From other things I've read it's almost as though the crowd needs more security measures than anything.

they have a NO TOLERENCE policy on burnouts and skid on the cruise route purely for the saftey of spectators its in the entrants package thing and on the website... so what if he said he would smakc u it got u to stop lol at least its better then him ripping off your entrants sticker and telling u to go home

i mean the last thing u wanna see is a car fly off into 50 people killing a whole heap

LOL you're either funny or missed the point.
In all seriousness thought there needs to be proper and enforced security at events like that. They have tough security at small events so why not at events where there are a) lots of tools with an itchy right foot and b) lots of people who want to stand close to said tools doing a skid.

Not sure about this time around but there used to be signs and notes on the condition of entry that people are not to skid unless it's on the pan.

    Default That's Bull!!

Just like Car racing, there is a risk if you decide to go....
Ripping a hell Burnout and smoking everyone out is not on, But summernats is about cars, Engines etc.... What makes it so good.... A great sounding engine in a car of choice tapping the throttle a little to let you all know he has the grunt to match the look...... What is wrong with that...yeh a throttle might stick, or whatever freak occurrence, but cars are scrutinized to confirm safety etc...... as I said If your there, you know the risks!! don't go if you don't like it!!

Hell if some islander threw a fist anywhere near my window, I would be out in a flash giving him my best.... before you know it, all in riot and security is way outnumbered......Then the Nats would probably be called off forever....

No need, and no right to physically abuse anyone!!

thats a stupid way of thinking u dont need un unroadworthy car to run into someone and kill them.... and yes someones throttle did stick this year but he happend to crash itno a concrete barrier... and what do u think the 2 days of burnouts and go to whoa is for to show how good your car goes
a cruise route is for cruising not powerskids or giant burnouts lol

mate its only gonna take one car to loose control and hit some bystanders while doing something stupid to get the event put under the media spotlight again and get shut down for good...

Mate it will get shut down because of Drunken fools, Not cars and drivers with a happy foot....

Most girls I know, wont go, because of the abuse they receive for the whole time they are there!!

It is about cars, workmanship, design and Engineering, If you had a C0ckpit camera of every car that taps the throttle to enhance his reputation with the crowd, you would notice, that their left foot is eagerly hovering over the Break pedal in anticipation to pull up before slamming in the ass of the car in front! As I said any fool who does a 6000rpm clutch drop is a dick and should be warned, but not smacked in the face!! That is what this thread is about, Being unlawfully smacked by security!!

Who cares where they do it? Its bloody Summernats lol I have hoons in my area who could wipe me or the kids out at any time.

If this was about someone doing dohnuts right next to a crowd then yeah ok ********! But loosing control while doing a little burnout and killing a couple of people.... I find that a little too far fetched.

Follow the rules, read the guidelines and have a grea time and you shouldnt have to worry aout a thing

if you want to do a burn out then go in the burn out comp. simple as that.

i can see why the security gaurds were flogging people... cos they were sick of putting up with wankers and finally got jack of it. the only way for them to try to get some sanity back into a bunch of morons was to throw a few punches at some of them. it is pointless telling these idiots what they rules are, they dont listen. a smack in the mouth gets a point across quickly and firmly to people who are ruining an otherwise great event.

Punching someone in the face is more likely to have a car go running through the crowd chasing the nomad that threw the punch than a little smoke. Violence begets more violence

This year was my first summernats and I thought it was an awesome weekend. Security were definately out numbered and rules are rules. If people can't follow rules, then they should be dealt with but not by being punched in the head. It didn't even seem to matter who you were because apparently Gary Myers got punched in the head too for doing a burnout on the cruise track.

When i used to be an entrant a few years ago now it was Ok to play up a bit up the back but you had to be carefull around the other areas.
I dont care how big they are no wanker is going to get away with smacking me in the mouth. There used to be one goose security guard there when i went and he though his **** didnt stink.I understand the rules but the security should do their job not just do what they like.

Security was allowing some burnouts. If they were only little and not too often, they didn't care. I know they kicked some people out for doing too many, but hitting people is just not on, that would cause more problems.
