in the tuesday edition of the "west" there was a letter sent in about road deaths and bad driving. this guy believed that 95% of "hoon" realted incedents were from holden commodore drivers. mainly P platers. he made a few moronic ideas like
* all people who want 2 drive a commodore have 2 take a intelegence test and only the people who get over 90% can drive them.
* all "performance" cars (eg SS, HSV) be made illegal 2 drive on the road, son only 4 track use
*any one who has been convicted of hooning be ineligble 2 drive a commodore

there were a few other points made (just as stupid) but i cant remeber of the top of my head. il try and find the article and il scan it for you all 2 have a read. if any WA members have a copy of the west australain from tuesday its on page 22.
ne way my main point of this post was 2 just let you all know about the morons who we live with :my:

A couple of things you said are incorrect as to what was in the letter, but apart from that, he's an idiot. The next age bracket up from the 17-25 yr olds are actually the higher number of road fatalities. I would be very interested to see the actual statistics by car maker.

it wasnt a contributing writer i dont think it was a letter sent in to them. but still somehow they still printed a stupid letter. if they cant sell performance commodores for road use, how will the police force react when they are unable to buy anymore ss highways cars etc.

All performance parts ban, yep imagine the job losses for people in that market.

1 speeding fine for being 5 k's over and you cannot drive a certain car. Yeah that will defianllty work, someone buys a brand new 40,000 dollar car and they get a speeding fine pulling out of the car yard. May as well return it.

Inteligence test, how can you test if someone is inteligent enough to drive a commodore? Ive seen countless people who i would consider quite inteligent pull some stupid ****, in not only commodores but all car makes and models. Because your smart in a certain field doesnt make you a good driver.

Clearly this guy shouldnt be allowed to drive a Commodore based on his intelect.

yeh sorry, i tried 2 rember of the top of my head the genral gist of it.

i think also it tottaly miss's the fact that commodores are probably the most popular car in australia. therefor more of them on the roads so just by weight of numbers you are going 2 get more **** wits driving them. if you do it by percentage im sure it wouldnt be that much worse than any other car make/model.

LOL. Maybe people with moronic ideas on road safety should be prevented from breeding.

Of course it's the fault of the car, not the driver that leads to road crashes. That's just so obvious. We'll just have to keep eliminating vehicle models one by one as the "hoons" move into the next one in turn.

96vscommodore, can I suggest that you write in to the paper in reply. Maybe run it by us on here first too.
