well its that time of the month for me lol. i have an unhealthy obsession with buying/selling cars had 9 (not including the sahara as thats a project between me n the old man) in just under 4 years all been holdens
i picked up my vy berlina last september with 28500 kms its absolutly mint drives like new looks like new but im getting boredwhen i bought it i needed something late model and a tad more reliable/economical than my old 5.0L as i was travelling an hour to work n back every day.
now ive just started a new job 5 minutes down the road and having the urge to buy a 4x4.
the thing that promted me, other than looking at forums watchin 4x4's goin down mud tracks river crossings n camping etc, was me n the wife are trying for a kid n we were loadin up the commy with shopping and the boot was chockas n chloe says "umm how the hell are we gonna fit a pram in here ?" stupid excuse i know people manage with little 4 cyl rice burners but still youve gotta have something ?? lol
so yeah ive been lookin at 100 series diesel landcruisers as the 1998 - 2000 models just scrape in at our 30k budget seen a few around that price with around the 100 thousand km mark.
but yeah not sure at this point i guess im looking for other peoples opinions on whether its worth going down the road of getting another vehicle or should i punch myself in the stomach and just keep the berlina ?
Punch yourself in the nuts and keep the holden.![]()
LOL.. he probably changed more cars than his undies. J/ks

I used to go through cars pretty quick as well. Then I got a mortgage and could no longer afford to turn over my cars as much. Looks like I'm stuck with the SS for another couple of years!
Yeah, i go through cars pretty quickly. 5 cars in 3 years...
The commo is good, but are you actually going to use the 4wd? if not, why get it?

dont worry about a 4 cyl rice burner. i remember when my son was born all we had was a 3 cyl diahatsu charade a early 80's model and we made do.
i remember packing it up one evening leaving here at 3am and driving the 5+ hours to go to the summernats.
while there my son got sick so i then left and went from there to my auntys(was the next stop but ment to be a day later) at taree.
all up about 12 hours in the car in one day
so my advice, frig the 4 wheel drive stick with the vy
heres my ride, i know its not much but its mine

we have a 'di-turbo' 4l at work
sure pulls ok, its good on fuel!!
top speed 140 about (but who buys a 4 by 4 for speed)
Go the cruiser if you want a solid 4 by 4, they are all bussiness ,
get a trayback if your getting one.
Personally I love it, it has that rip roarin diesel sound that makes the Beemers run for cover..lol
they cost a pretty penny but keep their value.
cheers

the ST-R navara is always a winner, that and the GU patrols are starting to get fairly cheap now i think

i went to a dealership today to check out a 100 series diesel standard landcruiser 5spd,first 4x4 ive ever driven and the woman salesrep couldnt get it out the yard i had to !!.
she sure wasent a speed demon but you could feel the torque and a definate presence on the road, although you get that feel of not beeing fully connected to the road a little bit floaty plus you need to be really gentle with the clutch otherwise itl jerk through the gears mind you its been a couple years since ive driven a manual.
so im gonna have a think about it over a few more days then most likly put the vy up for sale next week, mind you if i had a buyer for my berlina i would of bought that 100 series today.
Stiffen the suspension up and you can slide that sucker round corners. I used to do it in my patrol. that and the non-turbo diesel 6 really moves when you wind it out to the redline
